It's time for a bar makeover. The dish pictured here is deep-fried pickles. They were thin like fries, which was not enjoyable. The price was $12.
Don't miss coming to this spot for the best fish and chips ever! Warning...you may just end up eating more than you planned, as those hand cut fries will just beg you to finish them. Just make sure to start with the fish! The salads were fresh and attractive tempting you to have one of those as well.
We went for dinner..5 of us. The restrnt is quite small and tight. The service was great. The food was good, we each had a drink and it was good. My biggest issue was the food was jambd into these small plastic baskets rather than on a normal plate. It was like what i would expect to see for a child's meal... or if i was buying off a food truck and eating with my fingers or a food fare at lunch but then I would not be expecting to be pay $20+. Even with two pieces of fish you were given one very small tartar sauce.. so had to ask... and there was no way of eating a fry without eating at least one piece of fish.. because of the small tight basket. Gave me the impression trying to really cut costs everywhere, including not serving too many fries. The prices are what i would expect of a plated meal.
I have been to Schooner's several times since moving to Cochrane and it is consistently excellent. The hostess was able to accommodate us during a busy dinner service. We sat on the patio, which was great for watching people go by. We ordered the halibut fish and chips, New Zealand blue, and chicken fingers. All of the dishes were tasty and the portion sizes were very generous. I will definitely be returning.
