Chicken tenders used in every meal. It is a tourist town but food should not lose it standards when season over.
This building was built in 1802, which is definitely cool, but when your floor is slanted and the head of your bed is 3-4 inches lower than your feet, that is not cool. There is no elevator and they would not assist with bags. There is never anyone at the front desk-you have to pick up a phone and call the manager (owner? . Room and bathroom was clean. Only mini-blinds on the windows, so no black-out curtains. There is a lunch/dinner restaurant in the basement that had good food. The best thing about this place is location, location, location! Walking distance to the Baseball Hall of Fame, restaurants, and shops. 17 rooms in the hotel, but only 9 parking spaces, so if you get one, don’t move it because you may lose it. Would not stay there again because no elevator.
First and foremost, you can't beat the location. It's perfect. Near food, shopping, and the hall of fame. And it has parking. So all of that is great. But on the flipside the hotel isn't great. A bit rundown, right on the line between quaint and off-putting. Not dirty but not clean either. For the price I don't know that you can do a lot better in the area but I personally wouldn't stay there again unless I didn't have any other options at least until they do some renovations.
$170 for a room that hasn’t been updated since at least the late 1990’s? You’re staying here for one reason: the hall of fame is a block away. But for what I paid for one night, there are several things that need to be addressed by management: If you’re going to put the cheapest cable possible in the rooms, the least you could do is update the television to a modern smart TV. Everybody has something on their phone they could stream to a modern television. Streaming will be impossible however since the WiFi at the inn is useless beyond the lobby. An old air conditioner in the knee-high window at the foot of my bed that could not be adjusted from blowing in my face all night. I cannot comment on the food since we chose to eat dinner at the nearby Lake Front Hotel for dinner. That was very good. As for coffee and breakfast: the Stagecoach Cafe across the street was excellent, which is good since the Tunnicliff doesn’t have so much as as Keurig in the lobby. It’s too overpriced for the bare bones amenities provided. It’s a lovely enough old house, but a little more money put into the rooms and amenities would make the asking price at the Tunnicliff Inn perfectly acceptable. Rooms: Old, out of date. Needs a smart tv and better WiFi. For parents of little kids, bring some dvd’s. My room had a little dvd player in it.
