We chose the bok choy and mixed vegetables sides and they were also delicious. I do suggest the bok choy be served in a plate not a bowl. You have to move it to your plate to cut it. Oh, we started with the halibut tartar. While fresh and light, all the seasonings were surrounding the tartar so you had to season it yourself. I wasn't fond of that. There not enough seasoning available to make it interesting or memorable. We didn't finish it. I saved the best for last, the dessert. Possibly the BEST ever! Wonderful lemon curd squares, chilled perfectly, with raspberries on mascarpone, fabulous raspberry sorbet, graham dust and elegant cookie swirl. Service was great and I look forward to returning. I may drive back from Portland just for that dessert lol.
The inside is confusing. You can seat yourself on one side or be seated on the other side but the same menu. Questions are frowned apon. Super solid food. The service was lacking. I can understand a slow social dinner. But this wasn't that, they were just low on staff or we weren't seen as a priority. Never got water that we asked for at the start and it felt like we were a burden. I considered not ordering a 2nd drink because I had been done with my first for so long. We had to bring our card to the bartender to pay when there wasn't even 3 tables left. There were flies in the dining room.
Never had food cooked by a Michelin star chef before. Chef O did not disappoint and was well deserving of the star. He has trained and met various high profile chefs but has such a personable and friendly personality. Food: We had a party of 6 and it was priced reasonably well for high quality food with elegant presentation. In Seattle and other metropolitan areas this would be almost double the amount. We did the Valentine's Day special and the first dish was an amuse bouche to clean our palate. Let me tell you, the oyster with wasabi caviar was amazing! Then we had the tuna carpaccio and the fried capers wow I wanted a dish of capers just as an app! Then came the main entree which was lobster risotto and it was pretty amazing as well. The sorbet and strawberry mousse very tasty as well. Perfect end to our evening! Ambiance: The decor was nice it felt like a mini art gallery and we sat upstairs. Unfortunately it was dark outside so we did not get to enjoy much of the view of the Slough but it did give some off some romantic vibes with the candlelit tables and dark lighting. if you are doing these 5 6 course dinner, be prepared to stick around for a few hours as it's all about the presentation and enjoying the flavors of the dishes. Overall I had a pleasant experience and would recommend this place if you are in Coos Bay.
This is a great little place. Coos Bay is lucky to have it. We stopped in for Dinner on a Saturday night. Romantic and cozy; we sat in the bar side. The bartender was great! The other side wasn't as quiet. The pasta is homemade. We had never had pork belly so we tried it. It was in a great sauce. The menu is very versatile, there's something for everyone.
Food was delicious! The bread, the Caesar salad, Pappardelle Pasta, Chicken Marsala all of it tasted made from scratch. As far as the food, my only complaint was the cost of the salads. I paid $10 for a Caesar salad that was about a quarter cup of lettuce on my plate. Overpriced. Service..here is where three stars kicks in. We waited 25min for our salads and an hour for our entrees. Way too long. We would not recommend nor would we return for this reason. My husband's chicken marsala was supposed to come with two sides, vegetables and rice. They brought the chicken on top of the vegetables and we had to ask for the rice. They brought it five minutes later. Ridiculous. Ambiance..no music playing, we literally sat facing a cash register and an Nespresso maker.
