Only downside for me was although food orders were taken at the table, drinks had to be ordered at the bar which felt a bit disjointed. Would happily visit again
We came across this pub in Eskdale after a long drive back from Wast Water and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, creating a strong sense of community. We were impressed by the variety of vegetarian and vegan options available on the menu. Both my partner and I opted for the vegetarian roast, priced at £17. It was hands down the best vegetarian roast I have ever tasted, with a generous portion that barely fit on the plate. The meal included Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, swede, parsnips, vegetarian haggis, red cabbage, greens, and gravy. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend stopping by on a Sunday if you happen to be in the area. Thank you to the staff for their warm hospitality and the scrumptious meal.
Good food and great little pub, accommodation needs updating and more cleaning, standard approach to breakfast, need options especially with fruit juice as we had a diabetic and someone else who didn’t like orange juice there was no alternative
Pretty reasonable food at a fairly reasonable price. Nothing over exciting but it’s a warm inviting atmosphere and the service is pretty good considering how busy it is. Great selection of beers and we enjoyed the food! Could do with one or two fewer tables in the bar area to be honest!
The food is much more interesting than what is served at many pubs and the atmosphere is really friendly. We went at a busy time but were in now rush so we relaxed and enjoyed the whole evening.
