I ordered the chicken and rice, which came with a small bowl of chicken soup, and it was fantastic. This will definitely be our favorite Vietnamese restaurant; I can't wait to try the pho next time!
I worked at this restaurant for some time, and my experience was highly negative. The owner treated me poorly, expecting me to work from 10 AM to 8:30 PM, even though my scheduled hours were officially from 10:30 AM to 8 PM. This resulted in me working 11 hours a day but only being paid for 9.5 hours. In November 2022, my pay was just 10 CAD an hour. My duties included cooking, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, and occasionally wiping down tables, all while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. I stood for 11 hours straight without a moment to take a break, working under intense pressure while the boss frequently yelled at me, treating me like I was her servant. It was an awful work environment that I couldn't tolerate. Additionally, a co-worker, a Chinese woman who appeared to be a close associate of the boss, also yelled at me and misrepresented my performance to the owner. Despite my diligent efforts, the treatment I received was completely unacceptable.
The food at this restaurant is pretty good, but the atmosphere makes it hard to fully enjoy the meal. The owner often shouts at the staff, seeming to ignore the customers who are waiting for their food. It's only a matter of time before someone reports this mistreatment; raising your voice at your team is simply unacceptable here in Canada. The servers, who are already overwhelmed with just two people managing everything, are also subjected to yelling from the manager, who walks around criticizing everyone. I really sympathize with the staff for having to endure such a toxic work environment.
This is one of my favorite spots for Pho. My go-to dish is number 31A, which includes minced pork, rice, and a spring roll. It's always delicious and fresh, and the staff is exceptionally friendly!
The salad roll is somewhat uneven; the sauce has a slightly diluted taste, and the portion size is on the smaller side. On the other hand, the rice dishes, particularly the chicken and pork, are outstanding. They are grilled to perfection and packed with flavor.
