I had the chicken Caesar salad with a side of chips. I started to feel unwell but decided to have a dessert and a cappuccino. The dessert was nice … the coffee was awful. I was unwell for the rest of the day and into the night. My friend also became ill that night. She sent an email to the hotel the following day and has yet to receive a reply. It was a very disappointing end to what should have been a special celebration.
The waitstaff seemed very awkward unhappy. There seemed to be a lot of people working, but no one actually doing anything. Our orders were taken by a rude server, no hello or greeting. Cut us off mid drink order because they didn’t have it, and when she was about to ask for alternatives he cut her off again and said “i said we don’t have it so choose something else..”. After we were served, we didn’t get checked on at all. Even when our glasses were empty for over an hour. Again, a lot of staff for not a very busy afternoon. We had to source someone to get more water, and that was met with “umm ya sure” and an over it facial expression. Just all very unprofessional. When we went to pay, waitstaff weren’t coming up to the podium the staff at the main reception were all looking as us but having their own conversations, no guests in the foyer, not getting up to help. I eventually went to the back bar a man was on his phone. I asked him could someone take our payment and he wasn’t apologetic or seemed to care. Staff definitely need more customer care training, and to be more approachable. I would suggest skipping the hotel and take a short drive down to Hayfield Manor for a more satisfied experience.
Everything perfect. Room, Service, staff, room cleaning,, hotel situation. Kongskey hôtel is a real four star hôtel where you'll love to go.
Extremely disappointed Went for Sun lunch Requested a small portion for my mum, who is extremely unwell and finds it difficult to eat , was told “ chef won’t do it “ in a very brusque manner We ordered the Beef , one well done , the other Medium It was as tough as leather, difficult to cut etc We were then told that’s how the beef is cooked , no rare or medium options , just tough . A high quality restaurant should be able to offer a cut of beef at different temperatures The manner in which this was told to us , was , in my opinion, bordering on rude The “ we can’t upset the Chef “ argument, doesn’t wash I don’t think we were the only guests that day with an issue with the food , if the conversation at the next table is anything to go by Overall a really disappointing first experience.
Was invited to lunch here. I chose the fish pie. It was easily a couple of days old! The fish and there was plenty unfortunately) was grey. It was borderline dangerous. The side of chips were reheated and the pathetic side salad was limp. My companions burger was not much better but at least she didn't feel ill after eating it. She insisted I have desert as I couldn't eat my main. This was definitely better but nothing special. It was such a disappointment as the service was excellent and the venue is stunning. The price, €23 for a fish pie at lunchtime might have been acceptable if the food was exceptional but unfortunately it was a massive fail. And yes! I should have sent it back
