I have tried many pastys over the years and while there are other (few) respectable ones, Nelly’s are the most authentic (proper job). No flaky pastry, proper pasty pastry (a dying skill) and full of the finest chuck steak, turnips (swede), potatoes onions and plenty of salt’n’pepper seasoning. My Gran would have complimented this pasty. Shame I only bought 10 back with me. They barely made the journey back, devoured by my Son and I on the long 13hr trip back home. Looking forward to our next trip back.
When I’m Cornwall you have to have a pasty. So we went here and got two fresh out the oven and ate them by the River Fowey. They are delicious. Good and peppery as they should be and buttery crisp pastry. Also took some home for family. You much go here if I’m the area. Reminder: they close at 2pm each day. So get yours early.
Fantastic service very polite and the coffee was excellent. The owner who served us was very helpful and brought the coffee to our table outside. Also very reasonably priced.
Ignored on entry by 3 people behind the counter. When one of them finally worked up enough passive enthusiasm to ask me what I wanted I was 10 seconds shy of walking out. Communication carried out with back to me, which is kind of difficult for someone with a hearing impairment. Food and drink grudgingly passed over with a Cornish farewell on exit. (sneer and silence). Not going there again.
Lostwithiel is a lovely little Cornish town, there's not a huge amount of options for food, but Nelly's provides some lovely baked good that are perfect. There's plenty of benches and public spaces near the river to sit and eat your goodies.
