Brilliant pub in fab location right on Porth beach , really friendly staff and a great choice of beers. Great offer of 2 meals for £20 on a lunchtime such great value piping hot and freshly cooked delivered quickly to table , beer battered fish was excellent chips amazing so crisp and fresh and husband loves the scampi. Dogs welcome and a lovely atmosphere would highly recommend

Travelling all day and needed something to eat early evening. A fair few folks at tables outside and some inside, but there were plenty of empty tables. Unfortunately too many looked like they 'd not been wiped down after the previous occupants. Small uninspiring menu but there was a specials board: [Something] Curry; Scampi Chips with peas; Fish Chips with peas. Since when were they 'special '? Being at the coast we chose Fish Chips £16 . It looked a reasonable portion of fish but in fact there was not that much fish as it was piled on top of the very crisp chips. Fish batter was pale and poor texture. It was all served on a lashing of very odd looking tartare sauce which I would of asked not to have if I 'd realised. I should have listened to my nose fish smelt a bit fishy. Was it a coincidence that the bathroom was a popular room the next day? Would I go back? No. Would I recommend it to others? No.

I’m not sure why, but I didn’t expect the food to be that great. After a great walk with our two little dogs, we decided to have something to eat here. I had read a number of reviews which weren’t that pleasant. But our food was delicious. I had the pulled pork burger with chips, very good. My wife had crispy squid which she enjoyed, although said it should have been cooked a bit longer, more crispy. Staff were great, friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely return on our next visit to that area.

Return every year for the rundown feeling excellent choice of draft lager feel the decor suits our every whim and cheers us up after a long day of work food is heart warming and reminds me of what my ex missus used to try and wipe me out with wouldn't change the me maid for anything

Went to the mermaid on Friday and Saturday and couldn’t fault the food or staff one bit. I had steamed that was cooked to perfection on the Friday and they was even happy to do a steak for our dog. The Saturday we had shrimp followed by jacket potatoes and salad. Proper pub food, great location and great friendly staff. Would recommend highly to anyone looking for a great local pub.
