I used to frequent this restaurant for fish and chips meals a few years ago. The fish was amazing, the chips were outstanding, and everything was top-notch. However, about a year ago, something changed with the chips - they became tasteless with a strange sweet flavor. Despite this, the fish remained great. Recently, we decided to give them another try as they had merged with two other chip shops, hoping for an improvement. Unfortunately, we were sorely mistaken. Most of the menu had been changed and many items were missing. The chips were even more unpleasant than before, and the fish, once excellent, was now terrible with too much greasy batter and little fish inside. We were extremely disappointed. Our order of two large cod, chips, two sausages, and a battered burger came to £32. We will not be returning here again. For delicious property chip shop chips and creamy gigantic cod, I recommend going to Harts Fish Chips, where they understand quality and taste.
I visited this place in 2018, 5 years later, I decided to visit although I was staying an hour away from the White River chippy. I have to say the fish didn't disappoint, but the chips did. They were a bit dry and hard.
The food was excellent! The fish was cooked to perfection and the portion of chips was generous. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
I’ve been coming here for years as the cod was always spot on as long as the main man was cooking (crispy light batter and chunky white fish). Since being taken over I was concerned the quality would slack. After 2 large cod today and chatting to the very friendly staff I’m confident this will be a great chip shop. They’ve got a high standard to uphold but good luck to them. Cheers and thanks
