We are from the south-east, where good eating is quite common, also in pubs. we still try to cook quality in this part of cornwall, and we were hopeful, that was it. but no. chicken liver pate brulee as on earth. one expects to taste chicken liver with a mouthful of caramelized sugar is beyond me. dover sole needs little added; a delicate fish that only needs to be cooked well. but this was covered with lenses and the fish seemed to be over fried, but I am not really sure what they did with it). it was impossible to taste the fish under this one. my wife had syllables, but the cream was on the line for the cost of this concoction. the search continues.
The restaurant provides a fabulous dining experience with excellent service. The sunny weather allows guests to sit outside and enjoy the spectacular view over the bay.
We were delighted to dine at some wonderful restaurants, but Matt Corner has proven today with our fish dishes that he is a true talent and his kitchen surpasses some of the well-known chefs of Devon and Cornwall. The Squid was the best we've ever had, and the soles, dab, and scholle were cooked to perfection with delicious flavors. The king prawns covering the sole were so good I could have eaten a whole plate of them. The lunch set menu offers amazing value without sacrificing quality compared to the a la carte menu. For dessert, I had a chocolate brownie that was more like a fondant, oozing with creamy chocolate and accompanied by almonds and cherries. My companion had sweet patches that were equally delicious. The restaurant is located in a beautiful setting by the sea, with breathtaking views of the rugged coastline that never disappoints. The service was excellent and particularly welcoming when we made our reservation. Many thanks to everyone at the restaurant for a fabulous lunch, especially during these challenging times for the industry.
The meal was excellent, with attentive and professional staff, and beautiful views. We started with scallops and calamari, followed by monkfish for the main course, and a delicious chocolate Negus for dessert (the best part!). The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars is because we didn't enjoy the broad beans/pulses in the starter and main course. They didn't add anything to the dishes and were unfortunately very plain. However, don't let this stop you from dining here, as it is still a beautiful experience.
