The owner is very rude not welcoming when my friends and I came to check out the rooms to stay in. The dogs are aggressive attacked mine. My dog is not able to walk and has a huge wound. Your energy will not feel at home in a low energy place such as here. Lots of other places to feel the pura vida life.
The dogs (3) at the restaurant behaved threateningly to anyone who came over with no correction from the staff. There 's a life gaurd on a noisy quas playing beach cop with an attitude problem. He enforces nonsense like dont sit on the rocks with disrespectful commands, no requests. I witnessed him yelling at a guy playing a flute on top of a rock and then screamed in a woman 's face about her bathing suit top. Get rid of this clown so it can be a peaceful beach.
We stumbled upon Roca Verde by accident, and ended up staying here for our last 6 days in Costa Rica – we loved the hotel, and could have stayed for months; it’s set upon a beautiful sandy beach, with rocky outcrops, which is almost private – it’s at the extreme end of Dominical beach, but miles away. The hotel is very chilled, and, because the restaurant isn’t open, the guests are able to use the kitchen, and there was a great sense of community. There is a lovely swimming pool too, and Mike who owns the hotel was a perfect host.
The restaurant/bar is close what a shame. This used to be a fun place to be. It looks like a book club with classical musical playing now. So sad!
The rooms were clean and comfortable. No TV, which was great. The location is amazing, right on an almost private beach with soft sand and small waves. But the hotel part is tucked into the jungle a little and feels isolated and private too. The pool is so nice. The restaurant is currently closed due to COVID but there is free coffee all day and you can use the fridge and microwave as needed in the kitchen and there is a great restaurant right next door where you can eat in or get take out. They only take cash here which was ok with me. The town is a 10 15 minute walk away along the beach so Roca Verde is close to dominical but far enough away to be more quiet and make you feel like no one else is around. Call or email for the best price, no online booking. Hardly anyone has been here for my entire stay, it's been dreamy. Strong WiFi, great for remote work.
