The Oaks Golf Course - Cottage Grove

Probably the most overpriced course in Wisconsin. This course should be $60-$70 max but they have the nerve to charge $95. Unfortunately people pay it so it won’t change.

This is a gem of a golf course in the Madison area. Fairways greens in great shape and the course features some challenging holes. GPS golf carts are a nice touch. The grounds overall are well maintained. Definitely one of the nicer public courses in the Madison area!

Absolutely awful experience which is unfortunately becoming the norm. $70 to play a terribly overcrowded course with a cart. We are 3 hours and 15 minutes into the round and starting the 12th hole because of ridiculously slow play. There are no rangers. But that's OK because you can always get a drink from the cart person and wait it out, right? Actually, no. We haven't seen a person since the fourth hole. (after seeing them 5 times the first 3 holes) That was 2 hours ago. Called the pro shop to find out where the beverage cart was and they said they tend to pull the cart on days when the course is slow. It's 3:00 on a Sunday afternoon! Are you telling me there is a wait on every hole and it's going to take me six hours to play 18 holes and the course is not busy? There are groups backed up on EVERY hole. What makes it worse is the club pro was two groups ahead of us and still nothing was done to improve the pace of play. 5 1/2 hours to play 18 is beyond unacceptable. This is the most overrated course in Madison and the Oaks seems to only care about making money and not your experience. It's not worth it for half the price I paid today.

The Oaks was the perfect place to have our wedding. Aside from how beautiful the venue is, they are truly professional wedding throwers. The staff members are so experienced and organized, they were the number one reason we chose this venue for our wedding. If I asked a question, a lot of the time the answer was we have it covered and because of their confidence I knew they did without hesitation. The days leading up to the wedding and the day they were so helpful and accommodating. The only advice I have for future couples are to book my vendors. And if The Oaks is already booked, change your date.
