This place has become my second favorite Marigny dive bar lately. It's in the tradition of NOLA joints and the booze is reasonably priced and better yet, there is actually some good food to be gotten here as well. It's basically Vietnamese Cajun Bar food. They often have life performances here although I have not attended any of those as yet. If your doing the Bywater-Marginy bar crawl, add this to your list!
My friends and I stumbled across this place on vacation (we were staying in the neighborhood). Cool little dive bar. Staff was real nice. Drinks were priced fine. Bonus that they had karaoke the night we went (on a Thursday). Stage was small and sound was just decent, so it wasn't an amazing venue for karaoke, but there weren't a lot of singers, so we got to sing a lot, there was a decent song selection, and the DJs were really nice, so overall it was a good time. I'd definitely go back.
Just another hole in the wall bar. However, this place has incredible cocktails, true New Orleans spice, and incredible warm sandwiches open until 2 am. If you fancy a game of pool or shuffleboard this is the spot. A definite must for a night cap. If you are visiting stop by and ask for Maggie, she is very warm and friendly and mixes the best cocktails in town.
Food ordered: Bahn mi tamarind shrimp, pulled bbq pork, shrimp love lost. Get everything fried. Pork buns. Kimchi and shrimp dumplings. This is one of the best places to come for a food coma. We were celebrating a birthday and they told us the tradition of pinning money on the birthday girl. The bartender was friendly and gave us great recommendations for the food and booze, including where to skip we were there for Mardi Gras. Highly recommend!
