The front desk at The Baker were extremely accommodating to our struggles thanks to Westjet (no baggage, then my parents flight the next day into Cranbrook also cancelled . We made good use of their laundry facilities (to wash newly purchased clothes... , the hotel was very conveniently located in the centre of town, and the room was well laid out for us to make full use of.Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future, and think it's well worth a stop if you are heading to Cranbrook.Rooms: The room we had was a good size and well appointed for a couple.Walkability: Well located in the centre of Cranbrook. Easy walking distance to the nearby Safeway, a few great food options (pub and sushi next door both were tasty , and the downtown shops as well.
When I stay at a hotel I expect 2 things; That my room is dark when I turn off the lights and the room is reasonably quiet. The room was not dark, as the blinds were broken and the street light was flooding in.The room was not quiet and I was unable to sleep due to constant thumping of music from the downstairs pub.I would suggest bringing a blindfold and earplugs if you want to have a restful night. The whole next day, I was fatigued and it really dampened my travels and experiences thru the Kootenays.Management should remember that the prime objective of housing travellers is to let them rest.Thank you.
There is no other place to stay in Cranbrook! This beautiful, historic hotel has been meticulously updated and decorated by the new management and is now a boutique stay in Cranbrook. You can't beat the value. The rooms are clean, have ALL the amenities and well appoiinted. The customer service is unparalled. True gem of the BC Interior!
Had the feeling of a project not yet complete. Nice historic feel but the old furniture was for show not a practical room, only 1 draw worked. Not even room to place a laptop. Bath/shower questionable did not want to touch. Microwave, fridge and coffee machine available in room and bed and pillows were comfortable. Friendly reception. Good location in centre of town not on main through road like most hotels.Hotel parking on next street was full , street parking only free overnight. Was laundromat, no breakfast facilities.
From the minute Ian checked me to the end it was a lovely stay. The only drawback is the lack of stairs, but I knew about it in advance, so was able to ensure a 2nd floor room. I was given a lovely recently renovated queen room with a massive walk-in shower. The renovation was top-notch, right down to the pattern and spacing of the tiled floor. Nice toiletries too. I will absolutely be back. I recommend walking the two short blocks to the Heid Out for excellent food, bevies and service. The service at the resto under the hotel was less than great
