The Pepper Steak Tips were merely average; considering the price, I expected them to be much more flavorful. The Halibut was good—the fish was flaky and didn’t have a fishy taste, but it was slightly bland. The stuffing had a nice flavor but was also a bit on the bland side. While the dish was decent, I felt it should have offered more for the price. On the other hand, my wife's pasta was quite enjoyable, especially after she added a touch of salt and pepper. It was definitely the highlight of our meal, and I would gladly order it again if we return. However, the restaurant's layout contributes to a loud atmosphere, making conversation difficult. The decor was unique, reminiscent of an antique shop, which added character to the place. Our service was attentive, and our waitress took great care of us. I recognize that prices in Alaska tend to be higher due to the costs of sourcing fresh food, but the value didn’t quite match the quality we experienced. For those unfamiliar with authentic Louisiana cooking or who haven’t experienced homemade meals from a skilled cook, Double Musky might be a pleasant dining option. However, for those of us who have, I would advise keeping expectations in check when visiting this restaurant.
We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary here many years ago, and now we’re back for our 45th! It’s always a delightful experience. I can’t recall how much we spent during our first visit, but I’m sure it was less than our most recent visit. However, the food was just as fantastic this time as it was all those years ago.
The wait is definitely worth it! This restaurant serves incredible food. The prime rib was cooked to perfection, and the salmon was outstanding. For dessert, we enjoyed a fresh blueberry pie that had what seemed like a cheesecake layer on top, all drizzled with whipped cream. I absolutely love this place and would give it a 10/10. I can’t wait to come back!
I've lived in Alaska long enough that I can't believe I had never tried Double Musky until now! We visited to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary, and it was a delightful experience. The building has a distinct Alaskan charm, and the staff embodies that spirit as well. There's a sign on the main road guiding you to what appears to be a cozy little cabin, complete with a lovely garden outside. We were seated right away, and the staff was both friendly and attentive. While the food is a bit pricey, it's absolutely worth it. Don’t be misled by the prices, though; the dress code is definitely "Alaska Chic," so clean up your Xtra Tuffs and throw on your finest Patagonia vest, and you’ll fit right in. My spouse ordered a steak, which he declared to be the best he’s ever had in Alaska, while I opted for the crab-stuffed halibut. The portions were generous, and our meal was accompanied by delicious freshly baked bread. To top it off, we shared a slice of cheesecake and enjoyed some fantastic cocktails. I ordered a margarita that was a unique twist on the classic, and surprisingly complemented our meal perfectly. If you have the time and the budget, Double Musky is a must-visit when you're in Girdwood!
This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The food was outstanding, and the Cajun dishes were spot on. The staff was incredibly attentive and supportive. Although it is a bit pricey, it's a fantastic place to celebrate special occasions. We really loved the Double Musky pie and the Cajun pudding pie—both were exceptional. Our group tried the French pepper steak, garlic seafood pasta, and shrimp étouffée, all of which were delightful. For appetizers, we treated ourselves to escargot-stuffed mushrooms and a cheesy jalapeño shrimp dip. I would definitely return without hesitation. A helpful tip: be sure to line up outside about 30-45 minutes before they open!
