I really wanted to love this restaurant because I enjoy JP Bentos and it’s conveniently located near my home. Unfortunately, all five dishes I ordered were extremely salty. Additionally, their hours seem quite inconvenient.
The food was overly salty and ultimately inedible, lacking any sense of authenticity. Today, we ordered oyakodon, katsudon, and gyudon, and I can honestly say I’ve never experienced anything quite so disappointing. The gyudon tasted more like teriyaki sauce than anything else, and the beef was tough and excessively fatty. The oyakodon was quite gloppy, although the chicken-to-rice ratio was generous. The katsudon was the only dish that was somewhat acceptable, although the pickles were a bit over the top. I wouldn’t recommend this place for Japanese bento.
I used the neighborhood of Bento to provide a memorial service to my wife's brother who has recently died. There were about 100 people visiting. Everyone loved the salmon, chicken (kara-age) and beef (yakiniku) Bento lunch. Thanks Tetsuko. Everything was perfect and perfectly prepared!
It was Friday and I didn't want to cook. This is a great place for Japanese comfort foods. Today, we ordered the following for family style take out dinner: Hamburger Bento Comes with steamed rice, cooked veggies japanese style which includes taro, carrots, lotus, shitake mushroom, bamboo. seaweed. potato salad. and egg japanese style sweet rolled omelet. The hamburger is grilled and smells just like a summer backyard barbecue. Love having this with katsu sauce. mmmmm. Fried Fish Bento same as above but with fried fish. 3 nice pieces. Also includes tarter sauce. It's so crunchy but gentle to your upper palate. Delish. Karaage 15 pieces of fried chicken pieces. Love! I like dipping mine in katsu sauce. Adds just enough umami. Sides: Cooked Veggies cannot get enough of this so need more! Kinpira braised burdock root (gobo, in japanese) It goes very well with some rice. Fried Shishito Peppers pair this with some biiru (beer, in japanese) for pre dinner happy hour. This is like playing Shishito Roulette. You cannot tell which pepper is HOT! Service is nice and polite. Timing is perfect. I ordered online for after 6:15 pick up. I got there just before that and had to wait just a couple minutes for one more dish. Food was still nice and warm when I got home. Wear your masks please. We all need to do our part and keep these businesses safe and running. Remember we need Bento as much as Bento needs us. Keep safe and itadakimasu!
