Menu not great, but, the fish pie I had was nice, service very slow, took over 2 hours just for 1 course each.
Although part of the usually excellent Oakman group we found the Grand Junction disappointing and not up to the standard we expected. It has the potential to be a great pub and restuarant but overall our experience was very underwhelming. Given that the restuarant was not busy we needed to wait a long time for our food to arrive. The young staff were trying their best but were clearly new aand inexperienced. The main courses were not unpleasant but were not great. The puddings had clearly been hanging around for a while as the ice cream was melting on a pudding that could hardly be described as warm. Considered sending back but couldn't bear to wait longer. Not one to recommend or go back to in a hurry.
Very excited to visit this restaurant as it was part of the Akeman group. From the moment we arrived I should have known it wasn’t going to go well. We weren’t greeted, had to get the staff attention. Then left way too long to take our order. The portions were small for their price, I had Scotch egg that was way too salty, and slightly undercooked. Spoilt my meal. Then had to go to the bar to get service for puddings. Didn’t clear away until pudding came. Overall really disappointed. Do t feel they had the staff to deal with the customers and shook at how expensive it was. If u enjoy your meal you do t mind paying but 3 of us were disappointed!
Wonderful service by Lauren. Very professional and friendly. We came across this lovely pub by the Grand Union canal by chance and ordered sea bass which was delicious with gorgeous flavours. Particularly liked the fact that it was a whole fish with its head and not filleted. The mash was great as well.
