One staff member even blocked my path while I was trying to get food just to wipe down the buffet, telling me to go ahead while she continued to clean the same area repeatedly, laughing as she did so. Overall, the service was quite poor. I would strongly advise against visiting this restaurant unless you enjoy being treated rudely and receiving minimal service, which defeats the purpose of dining out. The management really needs to address these issues with their staff and implement serious training on proper customer service and how to run a business. As for the food, it was lackluster; the desserts were particularly disappointing with dried-out cakes and an apple pie that tasted more like peach. The entire experience was underwhelming and certainly not worth the $50+ we spent for the buffet and two sweet teas for two people. Dutch Kitchen, it's time to get your act together.
This place used to be the bin and people lined up outside just to get in. Took my elderly Dad for lunch. Was fully disappointed! Barely anyone there, it was a Saturday, so normally would have been packed back in the day! Seated in good time (plenty of seats available) He wanted the salad bar, which for most “Amish” salad bars is all you need. Food looked disgusting, but did t want to spoil his idea, so didn’t say anything. Got to the salad bar and the very first item (lettuce) was definitely from the day before, as well as other options which apparently aren’t selling or being used enough! I found the waitress and said can we get some fresh lettuce? It’s brown! Oh, of course, young man immediately brought out new lettuce. Bar was less than appealing with a couple of meats that looked like they sat in the water for days and were very dry. Even the dessert section was a bit scary with open air to them and flies around. Will not return. Of course the gift shop was normal for “Amish” restaurant and large bakery area-almost as big as dining area. But, as much bakery items they had, all were very large portions, but didn’t look like they make them there or were they looking fresh. On one last note, we saw the waitress give other tables what appeared to be fresh bread baskets, which we were not offered!
Typically, this restaurant is quite good, but my recent experience was disappointing. The salad bar was excellent, but the quality of the hot food left much to be desired. The roast beef was completely shredded, making it impossible to serve with the tongs. The chicken was soggy, with the batter falling off. When they refilled the chicken, they only brought out two breasts and a bunch of thighs, all of which were also soggy, as if they had been kept warm in a steam cabinet. The dessert table had only four pieces of pie, and when I tried the peach pie, it was filled with pie filling but contained no peaches! We arrived at 1:30 PM and the dining room was only one-third full, which made the overall experience feel even less justifiable for the price of $16.99 for lunch and $3.50 for a drink. I can't recommend this place and won't be returning.
Great dining spot, although the prices are on the higher side, similar to most places in the area.
Wonderful waitress, helpful and pleasant. Food was better than I thought it would be, a little smalt made it better but just admit I'm a salt addict.
