We made the mistake of ordering the 5 course sampling menu and I could not finish half of my entree and dessert, the portions are way too large for such sampling menu. We would eat there again though, just to enjoy the setting.
A feast for all of your senses! This is a beautiful place to visit and experience the history of the Old South. The current owner has added to the experience with superb accommodations and three award winning restaurants. The grounds and gardens are immaculately maintained. The gift shop is filled with many unique treasures at affordable prices. If you are visiting New Orleans, you owe it to yourself to visit!!
Oh, my God! We had a choice from our tour guide (tours by Isabella) and I wanted the burger, but assumed it would be a cheaper burger and disappointed. Then I saw how it was served. I wanted to change my order. It looked devine! But my plate I went with was not disappointed. So delicious! And my bread pudding... just spicy!
Latil's Landing at Houmas House Plantation is one of the best high end restaurants in the combined Baton Rouge New Orleans area. You won't find a better venue to dine. This place is historic and romantic. The dining rooms are small and quaint. The food is on par with all the James Beard/Michelin Star award winning restaurants you've ever been to. Do yourself a favor and reserve a table at this beautiful restaurant! I promise you'll be back for more!
For drinks, I really enjoyed their coffee, and the sweet tea was also delightful. The food was expertly prepared, from the appetizers to the desserts. I particularly loved the Etouffée. You'll appreciate that the cooking style isn’t overly salty or spicy; it strikes the perfect balance for enjoyment. The only slight difficulty was reaching the restaurant, but traversing the beautiful gardens to get there was part of the charm.
