A big thank you to Sam and Paul for keeping the bride happy, and a big thank you to Jake for keeping the day running smoothly. The only comment I have is that I am dairy and nut free (allergic to peanuts) and there were peanuts on my dessert. However, the issue was quickly resolved and I received the correct dessert.
I had a wonderful experience at my daughter's wedding at this venue. I want to express my gratitude to the incredible team who went above and beyond for the bride, groom, and all the guests. I would highly recommend this place, 10 out of 10. A special thank you to Sam, Dave, and Jake for the tremendous support they provided in making this day so memorable for my daughter and son-in-law. You are all truly amazing.
I want to extend a big thank you to the fantastic staff at Skylark for helping to make Scott and Anna's wedding day absolutely perfect. The venue itself is stunning, and the food was delicious, both the main meal and the barbecue in the evening. I would highly recommend this place.
READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING YOUR WEDDING!!!! Attended a wedding/afternoon tea reception. The first thing that you are greeted with upon arrival isn 't a lovely sign to welcome you to the wedding of your family members, NO, it 's a great big sign saying you can 't consume your own booze, accompanied by at least a dozen CCTV cameras, (guest surveillance). This to me was a red flag the moment we arrived. The scenery is stunning but we were 'herded ' into a wooden structure and not allowed outside onto the grass in case we damaged it even though there hadn 't been rain for two days. So, the bride groom were denied the outdoor games and seating on the lawn they had paid for. The children 's play area was the car park on a dirty bit of matting. The family photos had to be taken on the tarmac with the wooden shed as a backdrop! All accesses to the grounds were sealed off by pvc curtains and a balustrade. All guests were 'trapped ' on the veranda. The afternoon tea was 'dismal ' with a very limited selection of 'sad ' sandwiches, two varieties of rather dry cake and a small, hard scone. When my niece asked for a plain cheese sandwich for their four year old they were bluntly refused! The cup of tea was luke warm undrinkable. The bar drinks were expensive with a bottle of cheap fizz costing £25, the suppliers Cellavino.com charge £37 for a case of six bottles, so that 's a £18 profit on EVERY bottle. However, we were there to enjoy our family wedding so we were happy to spend at least £100+ each at the bar. So when the brides sister asked for some cows milk for her toddler we were appalled by the attitude of the abrupt, rude female owner, who contritely comment that when she had children she brought the milk with her! She begrudgingly said that there would have to be a charge. The guest said that was fine and that she 'd come back to pay. The callous, nasty owner replied that, if she went to Tesco she 'd have to pay there and then!!! So rude! So inconsiderate! So conceited and so unnecessary. I don 't think the owners have any grasp of the concept of Customer Service! PROFIT BEFORE GUEST SATISFACTION is their motto! The poor guest (Brides sister) was in tears. I went to the bar to try to get some milk and happily pay for it, as this was obviously a money/profit issue. I asked for the milk and the owner literally 'launched ' into me! informing me about her overheads etc, blah blah blah basically trying to justify begrudging a toddler a drop of milk and having the audacity to criticise the young mother whilst we were all virtually spending thousands at the bar on over priced drinks. THEY TOOK A £1 CHARGE ON OUR CREDIT CARD FOR THE MILK and the whole staff, who had gathered in a little 'coven ', spent the rest of the time glaring at me. Fortunately, our close knit family were there to offer support to the brides sister who wanted to leave and we rallied so as not to spoil her sisters special day. Guests asked to use the shuttle back to the hotel as the young children were tired by 9.30pm, they were bluntly informed that the shuttle didn 't start until 11pm. The shuttle didn 't actually start until 11.20pm, one has to wonder whether is was another ploy to maximise bar profits?? I can not recommend this place to anyone. Having lectured in Hospitality Management for over a decade the owners do not appear to have any training, they are rude, defensive and pair down the facilities to the absolute bare minimum. The whole event seemed driven solely towards generating profit at the bar, nothing else seemed important, particularly not accommodating the needs of children. The owners are certainly not focused on guest satisfaction or most importantly, giving the bride groom the day they dreamed of! Our whole family were so upset that I felt compelled to write a candid review to inform other prospective customers to AVOID AVOID AVOID!
We had a really wonderful August wedding day at Skylark Farm. We chose Skylark for its beautiful views and relaxed atmosphere. Sam, Dave and the staff did an excellent job of looking after our guests and coordinating the day. We chose the table carvery option for our wedding breakfast which our guests loved the meats were cooked beautifully and the vegetables were delicious! For the evening we had a pizza buffet, which was a selection of freshly made pizzas out of the outdoor pizza oven. We would definitely recommend Skylark for your wedding venue!
