Stopped in for my morning coffee. Was well worth the stop ! Great products available and most importantly the coffee was great ! Even the non coffee options were superb. Will definitely stop in next time I Come through town.
Generally great but had a rude experience today with someone I think is a new young male employee. Didn't listen to the original order and then came out and said hot or cold or hot or iced so we just looked at him and said cold or iced because we had ordered a frap. Same thing I have ordered since the store opened and never had an issue while ordering before. We had even tipped the employee $2 ahead of time. Comes back with an iced mocha. And I said oh no that's wrong I wanted the blended one. So he proceeds to argue with me saying we said ice. Well if he had listened or heard the original order, It wouldn't have been an issue. When he comes back with the right drink, total attitude. I have always associated this store with having nice employees. That's why I go here instead of Starbucks but I don't think I will be back for a while. And I think you should reconsider this hire. Normally I wouldn't complain and make a big deal out of one misunderstanding but the arguing with me and the attitude even after being tipped seems in poor taste especially when it started with him not listening to the original order.
The coffee was really tasty, and there were many syrup flavors to choose from, including classics and ones I've never seen (like cheesecake?? . The employees were all really friendly and quick. We're from out of town, but it seemed like they knew every single other customer and made them feel so welcome! We also got food. I had the jerk chicken wrap, and it was really tasty and refreshing. Perfect size. We also shared a Smores scone...um...I usually don't like scones because they're really dry... this was one of the most delicious pastries I've ever had. The toppings were soooo good and they balanced the fluffy soft scone perfectly!
We were visiting Decatur to see family and wanted to find a local coffee house close to us. Black Iron came up on the list and my daughter and I headed their way. We were treated by a delightful, welcoming, and helpful staff and the wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee! We ordered several smoothies for the kiddos and I had a cup of black coffee--there were several to choose from, from blends to single origin, light to dark (even a decaf). My choice was a darker medium roast that was absolutely wonderful--fresh and full flavored! All of the baked good were also fresh (we got an assortment to take home and share) and tasted fantastic! This is a wonderful locals spot that also provides an exceptional product for anyone looking for a truly excellent cup of coffee, scone, or other fresh baked goods. Glad we gave it a try and will be back on our next trip to Decatur!
