I visited for lunch, and they offer a variety of lunch specials priced at either $11.95, $12.95, or $13.95. Each special comes with a spring roll and a small soup. The coconut soup is one of the options, and it’s absolutely delicious! There are three sushi choices included in the lunch specials, with the most expensive being $13.95. I really appreciate the reasonable prices, especially since I’ve had to pass on many restaurants due to skyrocketing costs. The atmosphere is pleasant, located right in downtown Decatur. I’ll definitely be returning since I love having plenty of options and indulging in more coconut soup! Even though the place was quite busy, I managed to find a parking spot right outside the front door, and the parking is free!
The interior was nice and clean. Upon entering, the hostess directed me to find an open seat, which was a bit confusing since I expected a more typical dining experience. There was only one waitress working, and she appeared to be quite overwhelmed. Despite the lack of assistance, she did a commendable job managing all the tables. I stopped by during lunch, which featured a special that included a spring roll and miso soup. The spring roll was quite small but still appreciated for its crispy texture. Unfortunately, the miso soup was overly salty. As for the Panang curry chicken, I would rate it 3/10: the curry was quite watery, and it came with boiled chicken and bell peppers. I would suggest opting for something else on the menu.
When I think of Asian fusion, The Green Ginger is the first place that comes to mind. I’ve been a regular at this restaurant since the early 2010s. After Mulan closed its location on Juniper Street downtown, I was on the hunt for a good alternative and a friend recommended this place to me. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic, and the staff is exceptional. This is definitely one of the best fusion restaurants in the Decatur area. The portions are generous, and the diverse dishes are packed with flavor. It’s no longer a hidden gem, so be sure to stop by and give it a try!
Not sure why I'm giving it 2 stars but here goes Customer service: Poor. It took the waitress 20 mins for each step (sitting, drinks and food and ticket). I couldn't even hear what she was saying. She wasn't attentive at all. Kept walking around us and attending to other stuff with only 3 tables. I literally had to walk to the hostess stand just to get the ticket to pay to leave. I asked for a cocktail comprised of 6 different ingredients and she said they don't do mock tails despite I was only asking for you not to add the vodka. No discount, no alternative price. Food quality: the calamari was so little and not all like the picture online. It's more batter than calamari. So crunchy and the sauce wasn't good either. Parking: this is the reason for the stars I guess. It's located in a hustling and bustling area in downtown Decatur with ample shopping center parking. I've been 3 times and 2/3 were bad I won't be back.
The ONLY reason that this is getting TWO stars instead of ONE is because the genuine selection of authentic alcohol. We came here due to the ample parking and proximity to our destination. I had high hopes when I first walked in. HOWEVER... When my son (who was celebrating a birthday) said that the sushi was meh and that it tastes regular and store-bought , my excitement faded. He sat there for a while waiting for his drink to be refilled, so the negative experience worsened after that. Mind you, the place was NOT packed and had ample servers putting out take out orders on the front table and returning to the kitchen. When his noodle order came out, THE WHOLE TABLE recognized it as TOP RAMEN--right down to the curvature of the packaged noodles. Basically, I feel like I ordered ramen with fixins ' that any junior high school to college kid whips up in an attempt to fancy it up for fun. Also, the dish I ordered, that took 25 min to prepare, came out room temperature--so that got sent back as soon as we could find the server, with steaming hot rice. Come on, people. When the rice is hotter than the main--that 's just plain sorry. The owners/managers were present and said/did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING nor did they even ACKNOWLEDGE that there was an error in service. Lacking customer service is one thing. Zero customer service, pride of ownership/management is a COMPLETELY different story. The OTHER reason for the additional star was because my husband said his dish order was abundant in soup, noodles, and beef. He enjoyed it very much, so... I can 't bag on his experience. Two stars. One for alcohol. The other for the soup/noodle dish. Maximum. My advice--STAY AWAY unless you are there for the drinks and are just wanting to hang out in the patio area all night. The food and service for me was so bad, that we ended up going to the CVS next door and bought frozen pizza and were so much happier with it once we heated it up at home.
