I get a different answer every time I go there about what is and is not vegan. I’ve definitely accidentally consumed dairy before more than once, not sure if it was ghee or milk. I try and give places a couple of chances in case it’s a one-off, but they consistently lie/do not know what animal products are in their dishes. Very disappointing! They should know what has dairy eggs in it purely because they are top 10 allergens, so it’s concerning that they really don’t know/care.
I had the dal and it was fantastic. As was the rice and the roti! I would love it if Little India had a separate vegan menu—would just make me feel more at ease than asking for dairy free. Our server Deep was awesome!
The menu looked pretty good upon first glance. We ordered channa masala and bhindi masala as entrees along with roti. The waitress was nice but didn't know what was vegan so we made sure she communicated it to the chef. When the food came the channa masala was average at best and the bhindi was undercooked and had that unpleasant chewy texture that okra has when it hasn't been cooked properly. When the bill came we noticed that they had charged an extra $2 for each entree to be made vegan. Those two entrees should be vegan anyway, or at the very least not incur an extra charge to be made vegan. We asked about this and were told that the extra charge was for the use of coconut milk in the dish. The total bill was $40 for 2 mains and a roti. I won't be back.
They had a vegan drop down on their veg friendly items, but it’s $2.00 extra to not put in something… Food was pretty ok, about the only thing with any lasting flavor was the chutney. Wouldn’t go again by myself or suggest this place, but wouldn’t say no to going if someone else brought it up.
Buyer beware! Not allergy friendly!! We ordered through Door Dash last night and wasted $40 on food that was inedible. My family has a dairy allergy and I clearly requested in my order that each item be gluten free, vegan and mild. Upon receiving the order I thought it looked suspicious so I called to check and sure enough these dishes contain dairy! Also the peas pilau was freezing cold as if they forgot to heat the dish before sending (which also means they likely microwave to go food in styrofoam! . At first I thought the peas pilau was supposed to be served chilled but the fellow on the phone Nandu confirmed it should have been heated and also confirmed that despite my requests the majority of our food contained dairy. He was quite abrupt and did not apologize or offer to correct any of the errors. Seemed like he just wanted me off the phone and didn't care that they ruined our dinner, wasted our money, and could have made my family very sick by including dairy in our food despite the notes on the order. The one dish which supposedly did not contain dairy was the Mushroom Mutter but even this was disappointing as the veggies tasted old like they came from cans and it was very spicy for a dish that was requested mild. So many problems with this order, makes me question everything about this restaurant. If they are not careful with preparing the food, then how careful are they when cleaning and sanitizing their kitchen?? I am completely dissatisfied with the food and customer service. I was not offered a refund or replacement or even an apology! Such a frustrating experience and a total waste of time and money.
