Have eaten there many many times and never disappointed! And yes plastic bags and silver wear is how it's traditionally done! Best kept secret in town!
I'm sorry but the food was not good in my opinion at all! The shrimp was overcooked not flavored I'm assuming the crawfish was not fresh because i ate 2 pounds having food poisoning the next day 0/10 recommend!!!!!!!
Food and services was AMAZING! Seasoning was perfect! Coming from true Cajuns, it's hard to perfect the seasoning
Came to Crawling Crab with a group of 12+ for a birthday and left so very stuffed and happy. This place is an experience, from the plastic bibs to the succulent seafood. Our waiter was completely fun and in good spirits, and the food reasonably priced. If you're ready for a tactile eating experience, this is your spot.
Let me start by saying that this restaurant is very unorganized. It took over 30 minutes to order and another hour to get our food. We had a large group so I was trying to be patient but it was simply ridiculous. Many items we ordered were actually never delivered to the table and we had to keep asking for them over and over again. My sister received her garlic bread after dinner. And, what seafood restaurant selling lobster and crab does not have crab crackers and lobster picks when they serve the food. They said they had to wash them if we wanted them. Ughhh really? Let's wait until the crab and lobster is cold before we can get utensils? So frustrating Then, I'm starving and I crack into my lobster and there was no tail? Green, moldy blue cheese looking stuff tomalley or better stated toxins poured out into our bag and all over the other items we ordered. I showed the waitress who was terrified and immediately took it away. But, this is the best part, a man comes over identifying himself as a manager. He tries to tell us he can refund the lobster but not the entire bag. I mostly laughed at him and told him to take it away and we were absolutely not eating it . He stood there arguing with us in front of the entire restaurant. Saying over and over that it was totally fine to eat. By the way, at this point I've seen at least 3 people open the bag and look inside and one person actually put their hand in it. Two additional random employees who are now identifying themselves as managers try to convince me that it was totally normal and okay to eat. I was like what is normal about something that is so toxic that it has actually dissolved the lobsters entire tail. I got home and looked up what would cause the tail to dissolve and turn green and found this. By The Associated Press [hidden link] WASHINGTON The government warned consumers Monday not to eat the soft, green substance found in the body cavity of lobsters, saying it may be contaminated with a toxin. It's still OK to eat the white lobster meat found in the claws and tails of the undersea delicacy, but the green stuff that most diners already avoid should definitely be discarded this year, said the Food and Drug Administration FDA . Known also as tomalley, the substance acts as the liver and pancreas of the lobster. A red tide or algae bloom ranging from Northern New England to Canada this year has contaminated fishing grounds with high levels of toxins that cause paralytic shellfish poisoning. The federal warning follows similar advisories from public health authorities in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Canada. The warning applies to American lobster, which is also known as Maine lobster but is harvested in Atlantic waters from Canada to South Carolina. Cooking does not eliminate the toxins, the FDA said, but studies have shown that even when high levels are present in the tomalley, lobster meat is usually not affected. Symptoms of paralytic shell fish poisoning usually appear within two hours of exposure. They include tingling and numbness of the mouth, face or neck, muscle weakness, headache and nausea. Anyone who suffers such symptoms should see a doctor, the FDA said. In rare cases, people who consume a large amount of toxin can suffer respiratory failure and death I wish i would have taken a picture but I was so grossed out that I forgot and just wanted it off the table before It ruined everyone else's appetite since it was my nieces birthday dinner. Totally bummed Two very small glasses of wine 2 3ounce my granddaughters catfish and my husbands two drinks while we waited for everyone else to eat and I walked out with a $75 bill. They charged him $9.99 each for 2 jack and cokes. And, I'm starving!
