Proper Pasty - Derbyshire Dales

During my holiday this week, my son purchased a Bakewell tart for me at this restaurant. It was quite disappointing. The place that claims to be the home of Bakewell tart should be ashamed. The pastry was too thick and heavy, the jam lacked flavor, and the topping did not improve the overall experience. My mother, who is a skilled baker, could easily outdo their version of Bakewell tart.

You would have to travel far to find a pasty better than this one, most likely in Cornwall.

The owner of the restaurant was closing up for the day and offered us a discount on the remaining baked goods. He also kindly gave us some sausage rolls to take with us on our way. As visitors from America, we had never tried any of these items before, so we were very grateful for the gesture.

I cannot give enough praise to this amazing little shop. The pasties taste amazing and are very filling. The deserts are incredible too. I did not get the lady's name who was working in the store on Friday 10th May but her customer service has set the bar very high. She was very helpful, polite and patient and went above and beyond expectations when there was an accident with one of the desserts we had bought. I cannot give enough praise or recommend this little gem high enough.

Without a doubt the best vegetable pasty I have ever eaten! Beautiful on the outside tasty on the inside just perfection!
