We had very good experience eating at the Cavendish restaurant in the stables courtyard. Attention to one of our party with mobility issues was very good, parking the mobility aid was not problem. Good wine and food.
The service was good and flexible. All over it provided an enjoyable experience.
Front of house staff were excellent. The Cavendish Menu on Open House looked OK when in the restaurant the the number of courses were reduced and the starter and main I wanted were not on the menu. My Wife's 3 courses were all fine and she enjoyed them all. I had to wait 15 minutes for my starter as the oil in the fryer was not up to temperature this was at 12:30 (1 hour after lunch service started). I ordered the steak and ale pie it was well over cooked and the pastry was rock hard. These issues, whilst individually were not major problems, combined to spoil what could have been a lovely lunch
I want to start my review by stating the staff who served us were very helpful and attentive. Our booking was at 3.15 there was only 2 choices of starters left. I ordered the Quinoa Salad which was very nice and refreshing. For my main course I ordered the Sea Bass. It was slightly over cooked. The whole meal was underwhelming and I wouldn't rush to go back. My husband ordered the Steak Ale pie only, he couldn't face any of the starters that were left. My husband was also underwhelmed by his meal too. We had high expectations that the Cavendish couldn't deliver. Chatswsrth house is an amazing venue and we had a very nice visit to the House and gardens and was looking forward to our meal to round off the day. Thank goodness the House and gardens didn't disappoint.
