My wife, daughter, and I decided to try this restaurant based on the positive reviews we had seen about the pies (and other delicious plates of food). It is a family-friendly pub where everyone seemed to be in good spirits. We ordered 2 pints of Timmy Taylor beer and a pint of coke. The landlord and his partner were very friendly and attentive. We all enjoyed homemade pies with chips and peas, topped with delicious gravy. It was nice to have plenty of gravy with our meal. We had one steak and ale pie and two steak and stilton pies, and they were absolutely delicious. The pies were filled generously with meat, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food. The pub was bustling with patrons enjoying their meals, reinforcing my belief that serving good food will bring customers back. We will definitely be returning.
This local pub is fantastic, with a selection of great beers. The food is top-notch, particularly their renowned beef and ale pie with authentic gravy. The service is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming with cheerful regulars. A must-visit spot if you're in Matlock.
Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here, homemade and everything was perfect. We were really well looked after and made to feel welcome, had homemade rhubarb pie and custard for dessert which was also delicious, portions were very generous- it took four of us to finish the pie!! Great value for money. Lovely pub with the log burner on, made it feel cosy. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you.
Beautifully presented Sunday lunch, with excellent homemade Yorkshire puddings, plenty of vegetables and lovely gravy. We were made very welcome and even though the portions are generous, we just had to try the homemade apple pie (one piece with two spoons!!!
