Also man muß sich sein Essen schon ein wenig verdienen. Abschnallen, rutschen, durch Schnee stapfen, die Straße queren, je nach Wetterlage mehr oder minder beschwerlich.Dafür wird man mit tollem Service, tollem Essen und dem weltbesten Kaiserschmarrn bedient.Die Portion ist familientauglich und von so lockerer Konsistenz dass man niederknien mag.Die anderen Strudelvariantel waren allesam, egal ab süss oder deftig wunderbar schmackhaft und frisch.Der Service unaufdringlich und sehr nett , nachfragend, rasch.

Neben den wunderbaren Strudeln gibt es ein sehr leckeres, biologisch-gesundes Essen und gute Weine, alles serviert vom sehr freundlichen Service

Wie immer ein leckeres Abendessen wenn man in hinterthal ist.Super Vorspeise und leckere Nachspeise kaiserschmarn perfekt gemacht.Und sehr nette und freundliche bedienung.

We (my wife, our 20-year-old son and I) stumbled on the Strudelstube quite randomly by TripAdvisor; the Top 20 restaurants in Maria Alm, Austria. I wasn't at all restaurants, so I can't quite compare, but my voice would be much closer to the top of Strudelstube. At first we learned that Maria Alm is much larger than the village area where our hotel is located. Thank God for the GPS that led us to the right goal. Unfortunately, the rain had begun to fall, so we had to eat inside - our preference in Europe is always to enjoy al fresco dining room, which is so much more common here than at home in the USA (Greater Washington, DC for us). However, we enjoyed a pleasant surprise in the interior. The dominant theme is the finely polished wood that is common in this area. The motive alone is warm and welcoming. In addition, we sat at a stand, our preferred seats as a family, if possible (second only for outdoor dining). Our waitress was absolutely great. First she spoke fluent English, spent time in New York and had plans to visit the USA again. Second, she went the extra mile to be helpful. She translated the entire menu for us with great patience and understanding. She also noted what dishes were really common in Austria, which we appreciated, as we always want to experience the cuisine of the area we visit. Your descriptions were on site. My traditional Wienerschnitzel was delicate and tasty and the potatoes and cranberries that accompanied it were the right supplement for the main dish. My son and my wife each had a different strudel dish, in which the traditional thin pastry was filled with meat, vegetables or a combination of these, instead of the generally known sweets and fruits in the USA, and both these dishes were pleasant. The pièce de résistance, which however distinguished this meal and made the evening so valuable, was the waitress 'candor about tipping. I had given her 100 euros and asked for 18 or 20 in return. However, it returned all the changes between the actual invoice and the euro that I had given it. Then I followed her to deliver the tip, but she went back, This information was unlike what I had read in guidebooks, which was 10-15%. She explained that Waitstaff pays a living wage here and is not dependent on tips. I had read that tips were usually included in the bill, but it still seemed that a 10% tip or so was the norm. I insisted to give her 2 euros if only for her extraordinary willingness to help. The night before we went to another local restaurant, one also recommended by TripAdvisor. Also there we had a wonderful meal at a reasonable price. But our waiter, who I believe can also be the owner, took the 15% tip I had made available to him, but he also said nothing if I redeemed in my calculations and gave him more money, with the result that a 30% tip. The mistake was mine, and I don't owe the waiter, but the contrast between his choice in reaction and our Strudelstube waitress was remarkable. Studelstube is a short ride (about 4 miles) from the village if you stay there, but you will be well rewarded if you take this short ride. All about the meal was immaculate, from the various dishes that we make for coffee and dessert, and finally the service and helpful advice. Of course, having an Austrian waitress in Maria Alm who spoke fluent American English was the ultimate treat. My family and I love to travel and we can come along in French and Spanish, but my German is quite modest. I am much more comfortable when I meet someone abroad who speaks good English, at least if I am in a country where I really cannot communicate in the local language. I do not expect any Austrian or German English to speak, but I am extremely grateful if I meet someone who is able and willing to translate in detail to ensure that we understand what we order. In short, run, do not walk to the Strudelstube at least once during your visit to Maria Alm--you might find again a few times with sheer joy.

Visited Strudelstube(@Landhotel) for the strudel and also tried the garlic cream soup. Excellent! Very good service and strudel is a granny made affair tasty as made at home: rewarding try sweet chess, berries and classic "apfel". Absolutely decent prices for quality, service and comfortable location of products.
