Barn 23 Bar Restaurant - Dodgeville

The place is cool, drinks at the bar were great..a little over priced but good...the prime rib on the other hand, super tough, mashed potatoes out of a box and flavourless aside from an ungodly amount of butter on top and enough garlic powder to ward off a vampire for decades... service was good enough but I don't think we will be back

Exceeded expectations! Food was really, really good and reasonably priced! We went only because it was across the street (ish) from our hotel and we were desperate for food. The atmosphere is a bit bar like, but I was there to eat, not measure the feng shui. The kids meal was outstanding, my daughter even asked that I inform the owner that the food was outstanding. The steak sandwich was amazing. Two of my 5 person party got that and they were beyond pleased. Two more got burgers and they were outstanding as well (though more just mid than the mid-rare I asked for). Will be our first stop for dinner when we are in town!

We stayed at the Don Q Inn. we had burgers from here the first day. They were carryout. the burgers were good. Then on Saturday night we had a date night for our anniversary. we were told there would bee a wait. We weren't bothered by this. it was pretty busy. we ordered drinks from the bar. they were made well. we then ordered our food. we did ask the waitress Kaylie for a couple of minutes and she was literally back in a couple of minutes. We had a little talk and had two drinks and our food arrived. I ordered the prime rib and my wife ordered the slow braised pot roast in spotted cow. i tried my wifes and my wife tried mine. i loved both. they were made just right. this place was awesome they remodeled an old barn and turned it into a restaurant. We were very pleased with everything. the two that posted under me were completely rude and complained about everything. They were also rude to the waitress and wrote on the receipt instead of tipping. They told her to do a better job. We wrote on a post it that the cooks and waitresses did an awesome job. if you want a rustc place with a good atmosphere, drinks, food, and service this is the place for you. We didn't break the bank either!

Listen. This place is not fancy, the decor is actually a bit painful and the service was pretty slow on a Friday night. (Granted, we got there an hour before closing. . It's attached (kinda to an extremely kitschy hotel called Don Q Inn which is helpful because you can't miss it off the road with a huge WWII (I think bomber in the front. My husband and I went here because Bob's Bitchin' BBQ had an hour wait and we were starving. Didn't want to eat at a bar. The reviews for this place were mediocre at best...but we felt our hands were tied. I can happily report that the food was actually quite good. The salad was shockingly devoid of iceberg lettuce, all spring greens and spinach! Nice and fresh and crisp, too, and obviously terrible for you, home made croutons which were super tasty. I ordered the fish fry (cod which only included two small medium pieces, but they were really tasty and chunks of cod, not those flat thin things you sometimes get. My husband got the ribs and while I liked them, they were not the fall off the bone type of ribs some people expect. Unfortunately, one of the half racks was still pretty raw in the middle. After pointing it out, the staff readily agreed to exchange it for 2 pieces of cod and they also threw in a piece of a chocolate cake roll which was AMAZEBALLS for free. So, all in all, this place is really under rated here on Yelp. The hubby and I are foodies, and we love us some gourmet dishes. But, we also frequently find ourselves traveling through out of the way America and this place was definitely a better option than bar fare or a tired chain restaurant. Don't be scared!

After ordering it took 2 hrs to get our food,, burgers and onion rings??????? The food was good!!
