The worst day of my life. I and my husband went to the store and the owner acting as if they don't care about us, we have standing there and if there was another lady going after they get served immediately very disappointed and recommend it no one so bad service and very rude. I'm surprised they can still run the business like that.
The only Chinese bakery that counts! Much better quality and cheaper than sweet hat over the street. Her egg tarts are amazing and I plan to try her zongzi next time.
Listen to me out. grumpy asian mom vibes, who literally threw me into a PTSD-like whirlwind of my asian childhood. at one point I asked why I was in this bakery anyway? Why did I pay for someone who shot me? but the baked are worth it. I know, sounds crazy. these are the best wintermelon cakes I had in the city, and the cream halls have a great filling that is rich without being too heavy. their choice is not great, but the rolls they have are fresh and well processed. I don't think they can go wrong with any selection of their rolls/papers. they only have a thick skin, ignore the eye rolls and enjoy their goodies at home
I've been to this bakery a few times never remembered to take photos, unfortunately. But some of the things I've had are the wife cake, red bean cookie, mung bean cookie, taro bun, sponge cake, coconut tart, walnut cookie, pandan swiss roll, coconut bun, red bean bun, sponge cake/cupcake, chewy cookie and pork puff pastry. This is the only place that has made a wife cake I enjoyed. Most of them, the winter melon flavor is too strong for me but this one has a lovely flavor. The taro bun and red bean bun are very tasty. The dough is well made and there is a good pastry to filling ratio. The coconut bun wasn't all that exciting, but it wasn't bad either. Not enough coconut, I think. The red bean and mung bean cookies were delicious, great texture and filling. Sometimes mung bean filling is overly sweetened and not enough actual mung bean flavor, but not here. The walnut cookie here is DELICIOUS. Seriously, get this if they have it. It's like a buttery almond cookie but with walnut perfect sweetness, great texture and a sizeable cookie. The coconut tart is another one of my favorite items. The coconut flavor is delicious, and the tart shell has the perfect balance of softness and bite. The sponge cake/cupcake is also really good I prefer Mai Bakery's as it has a better flavor and texture, but that's pretty far from me. I prefer the texture of the one at Hong Kong Bakery, too (it's fluffier), but the flavor here is better (Hong Kong's is a little too eggy). Pandan swiss roll is good, too. It's a small swiss roll, and the filling is a little more cream cheese y than I'd like, but the pandan flavor is really good. The only things I haven't liked here have been the pork puff pastry and the chewy cookie. To be fair, I just wasn't expecting the cookie to be meat flavored, so I may just not be a fan of that item in general. The pork puff pastry was just seasoned sort of weird. Personally, I couldn't care less unless I had a reason to go anywhere fancy, but if you're coming for atmosphere pick somewhere else. It's just a couple of old tables, a TV, and the pastry shelves best for pick up, not dine in. Overall, it's a good bakery. I've only disliked a couple items and I've had a lot of things here, most things are pretty good. The walnut cookie and coconut tart are a must try. If you're in the area, I'd recommend checking it out the prices are low so if you don't like something, it isn't a big loss.
