Gritz Brunch - Douglasville

I don't even know where to start with this restaurant. We first encountered employees smoking outside the restaurant, which was off-putting. The hostess seated us after a bit of a wait, but then informed us that she had skipped over a few people and had to give up our table to accommodate a larger group. Despite our request to not be seated by the door, she claimed there were no other available tables. Our server seemed knowledgeable, but was neglectful for the rest of our time there. Our food arrived cold and undercooked, and we had to repeatedly remind the staff about missing items. The fish and steak lacked sauce and were cold, while the French toast was gooey and undercooked. The peach margarita was bland and lacked any alcohol taste. The music was excessively loud, making it difficult to hear others at our table. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for a family brunch.

We decided to stop at this restaurant after seeing it while walking down the block. I'm grateful that we did because my experience was great. I started with a bellini and then ordered the salmon croquettes, which were delicious. However, I couldn't help but envy my partner's dish of pork chops and seafood pasta. He had macaroni and cheese, yams, and collard greens, which reminded me of my grandmother's Sunday seafood meals. I appreciated the option to sit on the terrace and the fast, friendly service. I will definitely be returning for brunch or lunch when I am in the area again.

Sadly the hype didn’t match the experience we had. Food was dry and flavorless. Our server was very sweet though!

An overall great experience. The food tasted great, with the exception of the grits, they were pretty pedestrian especially when compared to the description. The fried salmon was delicious. It was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and seasoned just right! I'll definitely order it again. My friend has the chicken and waffle. Which he thoroughly enjoyed. The biscuit was just okay, I expected more with the hungry glaze, but it didn't really add anything.The environment was awesome! It was inviting and familiar. Almost as if you were dining with family. Good food, good company and good service what more could you ask for? Better grits at a place called Gritz? Sure, but everything else easily trumps this one misstep. Go, eat and be amongst friends. I know I will when I'm in the area.
