El Chilito - Downey

This cozy little spot offers an excellent Mexican-style breakfast along with delicious tacos, burritos, and a variety of seafood dishes. Currently, they only offer takeout or delivery. The food is flavorful, and their spicy salsas are a must-try—definitely go for the red one! A standout item on the menu is their super burrito, which can serve 4 to 6 people, or you can challenge yourself to finish it all on your own. Just a heads up, they are closed on Tuesdays—trust me, I found out the hard way!

I've been dining at this restaurant for five years. While I'm not a regular visitor, I can confidently say that their carne asada tacos are absolutely delicious. During the cooler months, they also offer champurrado, which is fantastic. It’s true that they charge for extra salsa and have a fee for using credit cards, but I believe the quality of the food justifies these costs. The establishment is clean, and the food is consistently fresh. If something isn't fresh, they will apologize and won't serve it to you. Occasionally, they might be watching a soccer game or playoffs, but they always remain quick and friendly. So, it's worth paying a little extra for your tacos, salsa, and chips—just relax and enjoy!

The restaurant hasn't changed a bit! The flavors are just as amazing as ever, and those huge burritos are unforgettable! They also offer tejuinos, but you should call ahead to place your order for safety reasons. It doesn't take long to have your food ready, though. I've been coming here for years, but I took a break due to my diet (lol). Today, I decided to treat myself, and it never disappoints! Definitely a 5-star experience!

The food is quite good and they make it very quickly. The prices fluctuate and it's hard to pin down what they might be charging, and make note that they do charge a small fee for using a credit card (I believe it's about $0.50). It's a little pricey, but the food is well made and yummy. The food does travel well in terms of taste... But it's not always packaged well too go... Many times you'll end up with a mess of sauce and beans all over everything inside the bag. If that doesn't phase you, then definitely recommend this place, since the food is worth it.
