Hometown Buffet - Downey

Dining can be a delightful experience or a frustrating one, and for me, the Home Town Buffet in Downey is a winner. My friends and I always feel at ease here, thanks to the attentive staff who are always ready to help us seniors. Sometimes I struggle to balance my plates, but whenever I ask for assistance, the team responds with cheerful smiles and exceptional kindness. And let's not forget about the delicious food! We make an effort to plan our visits around the days they serve the meatloaf – it's truly the best meatloaf this side of the Pecos. It would be wonderful if they offered it more frequently. Hats off to the manager and staff!

The restaurant was surprisingly empty for a Saturday night at 7 pm. There were quite a few dirty tables, which is why I only gave it four stars. The food was generally fresh, but I found all the soups to be quite bland. I sampled the chicken noodle soup and the pozole, and unfortunately, neither was very good. On the positive side, the chicken, steak, tacos, and ham were all delicious, as was the chocolate cake! The total of $60 was reasonable for a family of four.

They offered carnitas, beans, chicken, and steak! I had an amazing meal packed with protein and enjoyed some coffee as well. It was delicious and absolutely delightful!

I rarely write reviews, but I have to mention how welcoming my waiter, Cesar, was. He always served us with a smile. When we walked into the restaurant, we noticed how clean it was, and the food tasted fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the soups and desserts. I will definitely be returning! Before we left, the manager also came over to check on our service, and I can honestly say it was a wonderful experience dining here.

We had a great experience at this place; my wife and I really enjoyed our breakfast.
