This charming restaurant offers traditional potato pancakes dating back to the 1700s, which come in various delicious forms such as pancakes, fries, dumplings, and even bread. Our server, Deborah, provided excellent service - she was attentive, friendly, and very helpful. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, almost as if you were sitting down to a meal at a friend's house. Beer lovers should definitely try the Jack Smyth in-house brew, a flavorful beer with hints of chocolate and a smoky finish.
We decided to treat ourselves to the most expensive item on the menu, boxty and beef. Unfortunately, we were highly disappointed. The dish consisted of a tasteless pancake with a few strips of beef, and the portion size was quite small. We have had more satisfying meals with just a simple sandwich. The total amount came to over 80 euros, which included a pint of beer and half a pint of stout. Adding insult to injury, the bill also suggested a gratuity of 11 euros. Overall, we were unimpressed with the food quality and high prices, and have no intention of returning to this restaurant. It was a letdown and simply too costly.
The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
After watching Somebody Feed Phil, we were inspired to try out this restaurant. Despite the episode being filmed six years ago, the service and food were still fantastic. The front-of-house manager was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. We ordered the buttermilk chicken and it was outstanding.
We had a delightful lunch at Boxty's. We had the goat cheese bonbons and the chick pea and cauliflower curry along with tea and a latte. Overall an A+. The service was friendly and the restaurant is cozy. We'll go again next time we're in Ireland!
