The menu offers typical pub food, all of which was satisfactory. We were promptly seated at our table and given menus, after which our drink orders were taken. The drinks arrived quickly and our food order was promptly taken. The food was good and served hot. We requested the bill and the payment was taken at our table. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
I arrived at the restaurant at 2.45pm on a Monday and noticed that food service was finishing at 3pm. Upon entering the bar, I found it almost empty and the lady behind the bar seemed unenthusiastic to see me, with no smile from her, sorry Nicky! I assume she thought I wanted food, but I clarified that I only wanted a quick pint. I ordered a dimpled handle of Otter Brewery Ale and inquired about the garden, but was told that glassware was not allowed outside. I ended up enjoying my pint in the nearly empty bar and left shortly after. The ale was good, but the service could use some improvement when it comes to hospitality.
On Friday night, my family and I walked into the restaurant early and had no problem getting seated. The menu had a good variety, including options for kids and vegetarians. The meals were delicious, and the staff was helpful and polite. I would have given it 5 stars, but the chairs were too low and the tables too short, causing us to bang our elbows frequently. Despite this, we would definitely return.
Eaten here a few times. All in all good food. Most recent was for a Sunday Roast with family and friends. The only downside for us was the poor customer service, when we questioned an irregularity on the bill, the member of staff went to discuss with others, however if you are going to have that discussion, perhaps not do it directly in front of the customers and effectively make sly comments towards us. We were polite and courteous, when we highlighted our irregularity, so would expect the same in return.
Visited here one evening as we’d seen this prominent restaurant on our travels along the A35. Nice big carpark, but a shame there isn’t an entrance from the carpark itself (you have to walk round the front of the building to access it). Friendly enough service, but the interior was quite bland and uninspiring. Our starter of loaded nachos was very tasty with plenty of cheese and jalapeños. We both had burgers for our mains which weren’t especially big and came with a smattering of chips and some coleslaw (no salad). The gluten free burger option came with a very stodgy bun and lacking the onion rings that my husband had on his non-gf option. Very sparse on the Stilton cheese in mine too. Ok if you need something to eat late in the evening, but there were far better eateries in the local area.
