Maki Ramen South Bridge - Edinburgh

I must admit, I haven't sampled many vegan ramen dishes before, but this one was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has since added a whole vegan menu with options like ramen, sushi, and kimchi. The staff are delightful and the atmosphere and decor are both awesome.

Since reopening, this branch has updated their menu. The options that could be made vegan were no longer clearly labeled. While there is a vegan ramen available, it did not sound appealing to me. I opted for the veganized miso ramen, which was disappointing, especially the watery broth. It feels like they have taken a step backwards with their vegan offerings.

I had heard about maki and Ramen from non-vegan friends, and the restaurant always appeared to be busy so I assumed it was good. However, when I finally went to try it, I was disappointed by the limited vegan options. I ordered the miso ramen without egg, and found it to be quite bland. The restaurant was overcrowded, making it difficult to hear the people at my table who were only 50 cm away. While I recognize that the food may be enjoyable for non-vegans, I personally was not impressed.

To be honest, I didn't try many vegan options, but what I did have was delicious. The restaurant has undergone a change since previous reviews, now offering a full vegan menu including ramen, sushi, kimchi, and more. The staff was lovely, and the atmosphere and decor were great.
