It’s a beautiful traditional Scottish pub with a fantastic selection of reasonably priced drinks. We decided to eat there and were not disappointed; the fish and chips, along with the dauphinoise potatoes, were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend dining here if you're in Edinburgh!
The first night in edinburgh and how any tourist would do, needed to come to haggis, the abbotsford was recommended by a native and it was not disappointing, I am more uncertain why everyone seems so anxious to try, it is fantastic and a great first experience!
My friend and I called ahead to see if we could book a table, and we were told that it was quiet enough to just walk in. When we arrived, there seemed to be some confusion, but the staff member was friendly and let us take a seat. I apologize for not catching his name, but he was incredibly polite and created a lovely atmosphere. We felt quite fancy sitting in the small red dining room; it had such an eccentric charm! To top it all off, the food was absolutely excellent. We definitely want to return soon! x
This is a perfect spot for lunch, and they have an excellent selection of whiskeys available. The staff is very helpful and can assist you in choosing something that suits your taste.
Normally I would give just 3 stars for a place like this, but in this case a fourth one is due; the fish was really good, and also the salmon was really enjoyable. The waiter was nice and kind (and speaks a good Italian, that may be useful for tourists), and provided a perfect service. The place itself needs some improvement, but nothing too serious. Gammon steak was way too salty and a bit dry. Anyway, a good place to have a break.
