Blakbar Tavern - Edmonton

Nice little place to go for an after work beer or watch a live local band play.

It's a very casual bar. You sit anywhere, order at the bar, and the staff will serve you at your table. I was there for a comedy nite. It was great time, so much fun! And the food, while not 5 star spectacular, was quite tasty and satisfying. I got a plateful of a ketchup flavoured popcorn and then a big plate of nachos the latter of which I intended to share but my friends got there too late, so I'd already scarfed it all down by the time they got there, lol. I guess I was hungry! Not so full of food that I couldn't also chug down a pint of Lucky, a can of Alley Kat Aprikat, and a rum and diet coke.Vegetarian options: There were a few vegetarian options. Popcorn, or salad, for ex. But most of the menu is meat focused.Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is right on street level and the washrooms are both on the main floor just across from the bar. You might need someone to hold the washroom door open though.

This is a great place to drop by on Tuesday evenings! It's much cozier inside than the outside decor would suggest. The food was great; the service is friendly and fast; and the atmosphere is amazing. Come by for Tuesday comedy nights at 9pm different comics will cheer you up and/or make you explore the facets of human existence you didn't know bothered you. A great way to decompress!

The food was pub type food. Nachos were decent. Poutine was pretty average. The bartender was awesome. Definitely great service from her. Once the band started up all communication was instantly done. It was too loud to talk no matter how close you got. We left after an hour and my ears were ringing all night. It's a small place with dive bar vibes and a mature crowd which we liked but the volume level was nuts.

The bar atmosphere is just the beginning of what makes BLAKBAR awesome.The people and clientele are what truly puts the icing on the cake.That and on many nights one can see extraordinary bands and share the fun with a great crowd.
