The plate came with three small plates of mixed fruit, several pieces of brownie and a few pieces of waffle. It was the perfect size for my wife and I and the chocolate was incredibly delicious. We will definitely be back and bring friends!
This is my favorite dessert spot! It is a bit difficult to find because it is not visible from 104 ave and there is a lot of construction in the area, but of course, that is not a fault of the restaurant. So far I tried the Black Jack, a waffle cone in Matcha and a cup of dark chocolate cocoa. You gave vouchers a few weeks back to attract customers so my waffle cone was free and the dark chocolate cocoa bought in, you get a free! I like they have black sesameis here, as not many places in Edmonton offer it:
If you love chocolate, this is the place for you! I tried the Mexicacao hot chocolate, and it was fantastic, featuring rich dark chocolate with a hint of spice. I also had a strawberry crepe with dark chocolate, which was good, though it could have used a bit more dark chocolate. The decor is beautiful, and the service was both friendly and efficient; our order arrived quickly. The restaurant was impressively clean, reminiscent of a well-kept laundry room. We will definitely return to try one of the chocolate waffle options. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit!
I only tried the waffle, and it was absolutely delicious! However, it is quite expensive. The decor is lovely, but the menu is a bit confusing and could use some clarification, especially with having three different types of hot cocoa. On a positive note, the staff are incredibly helpful! The location is tucked away in a corner of the Edmonton Tower, making it quite difficult to find. I hope that once the building is completed, access will improve!
While presentation and appeal for social media are fantastic, the food itself was somewhat overpriced, questionable in quality, and unbearably overly sweet. With the group I went with, we ordered the upside-down cone, a seasonal black forest cone, and fondue (all pictured). The soft-serve ice cream tasted fine, but barely melted over 30+ minutes, which was odd; the cheesecake was too sweet and rich, which even in its small quantity made it hard to finish; the macha and caramel sauce were sickly sweet, ruining everything it touched; the only ingredient of the upside-down cone that wasn't too sweet was the fruit and Belgian waffle, which unfortunately didn't hold up to the crispy, caramelized sugar qualities of good Belgian waffles (just tasted like a normal breakfast waffle). With all that being said, I genuinely enjoyed the fruit and fondue, which was easily the best thing we ordered. The seasonal cone was also decent. All in all, I don't regret eating at Cacao 70 Sweet House for the novelty and experience of it all. However, the food itself was too sweet for even my sweet tooth, which personally says a lot.
