I visited this place while on a trip from Toronto, so I decided to give it a try.
We decided to try Dovetail for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere is nice, service is good, price is reasonable and the food is excellent! The roast of the day was nicely done, sandwiches are fresh and their potatoes chips are addictive. We like it so much that we went home with their take-out broccoli salad.
So maybe I am a wee bit biased by being a fan of Drift Foodtruck and Nevin and Kara are just such damn nice folk that I wanted it to be good. But Dovetail was all that I hoped it would be and then some. A cheerful and airy atmosphere without clutter and a great streetview of 124th. An open deli counter and a carving station so you can watch that succulent roast of the day falling slice by slice on that worn wooden carving board. Crispy fries with some house-made ketchup and a drink runs you maybe $12. There's a selection of salads and sides if your diet won't forgive the fries. And that roast changes daily. Add in some house made pickles. Mmmm get out of my way.
Went to the Dovetail Deli with my daughter for our Bday lunches. Excellent friendly service, fresh tasty food and really neat atmosphere. I like that you can see what to order in the showcase and the meat of the day is sliced in front of you. We tried the Feta and veggie Quiche with broccoli salad and the Roast pork sandwich with beef and barley soup. Both were excellent. I would return to this restaurant anytime.
