This seemed like a steep surcharge to me, as I had never encountered this practice before. Out of principle, I decided to cancel my order.
Haps has been in business for decades on stony plain road. My friend and I went for a deal. Service was very slow however it was worth the wait. I had the hot chicken sandwich. Real chicken and homestyle gravy. Canned peas and a fresh salad. My girl had the amazing French toast with bangers. The diner is right out of the seventies. But the food was 7th heaven. .
Located easily on Google Maps, this restaurant has a private parking lot that was already full by 9:30am. We arrived at 8:30am on a Saturday and the place was only 20% full, but by 9:30am it was packed and noisy. We came with my sister, brother-in-law, and 2-year-old nephew and were seated in a corner booth with a booster seat, although high chairs were also available. We ordered two Hunger Buster meals to share, as well as a pancake from the kids menu which was cheaper than the side of pancake listed on the menu. The potatoes were well-cooked and not greasy, the ham slices were too thin to share effectively, but the sausage was good quality. The bacon was slightly undercooked for my taste but still edible, and the eggs were a bit dry but acceptable. The breakfast plate came with generous portions of ketchup, maple syrup, margarine, and assorted jams for the toast. We chose brown and rye toast, both of which were standard. The restroom facilities were gender-specific and the waitress was friendly but did not offer water refills as the restaurant became busier. Overall, I was satisfied with the portion sizes and food quality, although not particularly impressed.
The best eggs B in the city. The gals are the best servers.it is always packed on the weekend and only open until 2 pm. All the food is actually awesome. It's important to support local restaurants. So please give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
I was honestly pleasantly surprised by this place. It's been around for a long time and I always drove past it on Stoney Plain Road, but never really went. Now that I've moved to Meadowlark, we decided to walk on over and check it out on a Sunday morning. We got there just before the AM rush at about 9:15 AM. It opens at 8:00 AM, and by the time we were leaving it about about 10:15 and there was a giant line. Clearly this place is a neighbourhood favourite! Our server was run off her feet but was still about to get everything for us without forgetting anything. I honestly have no clue how she did it, she was amazing. Diner servers are always having to do the most and she was straight up impressive. Worked like 20 tables in two sections it was wild. I hope she got a break throughout. We had eggs benny (vegetarian), pancakes, and my partner had sausages. He liked the sausages and I liked everything vegetarian. Nothing to complain about in the slightest and we ate it all. Ambiance was BUSY, but we still got fast food and service. We actually say outside on the patio because it was a nice morning. It was a less noisy out there for sure. We'll definitely be back! Now that we aren't DT anymore we needed a diner we could walk to!
