The accompanying rice is incredible; savory, soft, and plentiful. We had the small portions and that was more than enough for one person....We also ordered the patties. They were delicious and authentic. We ordered delivery. The order arrived correct and in a timely fashion. There was a small discrepancy which was communicated quickly and solved in a professional and easy manner.
I traveled a long way to try out this island grill, but I was quite disappointed with my experience. I ordered the king fish, chicken, rice and peas, and Cowhill soup. The king fish was overcooked and dry, tasting like it had been sitting in the freezer for too long. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, with hardly any potatoes in the rice and peas. The Cowhill soup was the standout dish, full of fantastic flavor. The Jamaican Patty and Yamsava pudding were also delicious. I may consider returning to this restaurant in the future, but not right away.
From outside and facing the neighborhood, a lot of people would probably pass this place. Don't! You will find the best Caribbean food without going to the Caribbean. It is not Caribbean inspired, but really Caribbean, and I have a just amount of time that excavated this region, but strangely never after Jamaica. This type of cooking is all thru of the Caribbean. The Curry Goat and Jerk Chicken dishes were excellent. We had rice and ravine. I wasn't quite sure what to do at first, how to order at the counter, but be assured that they know you when you eat. Soon enough water was brought out and the food followed a short time later, with friendly service. I was amazed at the pace of walks for picking up and the phone ringed off the hook, but that didn't seem to delay things when you get a chance to place your order in. Well worth waiting and they had many seating in the dining area, area. We also had no problems with parking in the game behind the restaurant as they are on Stony Plain Road. I am looking forward to many future visits as they had a number of basic dishes supplemented by specials. They would not expect this authentic and quality of food outside the Caribbean, especially not in Edmonton and for that they will get 5 stars.
I ordered the decision from Skip twice and found the food to be super both times. Tried Curry Chicken Roti and Jerk Chicken. Went to the restaurant today 2 June and found the atmosphere nice and cozy beautiful Reggae music playing in the background....The service was fabulous. This will be my new regular place if I want a good Jamaican food. I would highly recommend the place. Try it out, you won't be disappointed.
The variety of dishes at this restaurant is exceptional, with everything being cooked very well. My personal favorite is the jerk, which is made in the traditional smoked way that is rare to find in Edmonton unless you are familiar with Caribbean cuisine. If you are a fan of Ruck chicken or pork, Iceland Grill is the place to go. However, their customer service could use some improvement. While the staff is somewhat pleasant, they should focus more on running the restaurant smoothly. I have noticed that they often run out of items I try to order, so I don't recommend skipping the queue as there is a high chance they will call you to inform you that they are out of stock and try to convince you to order something else. Negotiating with the staff or getting a refund can be cumbersome. If it weren't for the time wasted with most of my orders, I would have given them 5 stars.
