Other than some cosmetic changes to the interior and some minor re-working of the menu the restaurant is the same. The Asian fusion motif has some good menu choices with the KL seafood hotpot, banh mi sandwich, ramen bowls, cashew chicken, nasi goreng and pad Thai done well. Lots of great options on the menu, the food is executed well and during our visit with a group of 12 was very quick. Our waitress was enthusiastic and got everything right the first time. The drink list also seemed very creative and priced well. Overall a good experience and I would go back but wasn't expecting to see so very little change from the former Lazia. Maybe the re-format was to try and compete against Joey Bell Tower, Ristizado, Chop and numerous other downtown options for Oilers game night restaurant traffic.
Great place to eat, they have traditional Chinese classics, updated with a modern flare. Very good service, excellent food. We are going back
I hate to judge on one experience only but you know what they say about first impressions! So it's a Tuesday night, I want a quick, healthful bite before I go back to my hotel. I stop at the Riz which is so conveniently located in City Centre. The good:--- the one waiter, working both bar and floor did what was humanly possible to serve me given that there was only one other fellow working with him;--- location as I mentioned---people seemed to be enjoying the barThe bad:--- way understaffed! It felt like the waiters themselves were preparing the meals in the kitchen as well!---way over priced! I had Vietnamese rolls that had litlle substance and I kid you not! A house salad comprised of a handful of lettuce, 3 stands of carrots for $6!!!!! This snack cost me $20 with tip! Plus, when I questioned the waiter( not the bar guy), he totally misinformed me about the items I ordered saying that yes, there was lots of meat and vegetables in the rolls--not!---way too much wait time for service because there is no staff. So, maybe I can in on a bad day? That being said, if you hope to survive in the restaurant business, especially with Rogers Place next door. Get with it and hire staff! Because of this first impression, I will not be going back to this place. I uhsed to love going to the Lazia's which was there before. Really disappointed!
Went to Riz or formerly lazia's. the Cantonese chow mein was excellent. Nice service. Show your event ticket and get $5.00 off entree per ticket. Reservation suggested on event nights. Riz is a Asian fusion style restaurant.
Riz is relatively new so needs to be judged on that basis. They may need some time to hit stride.Decor and ambience is very good. Downtown location that is great for lunches but quieter in the evening. It will probably be busy on game nights ($5 off if you show your tickets). Free parking in the evening.Cocktail menu is nice. I have concerns with the food menu. They are all over the map - literally. They are trying to cover almost every country in Asia - India, Thailand, Korea, Japan, China, you name it - plus North American favourites just in case you don't like Asian. What they are turning out is okay but to deliver stellar food more focus is required. Worth a visit with a gang from work or a group of friends pre-game but to become a dining destination they'll need to up their game.
