Saffron's Caribbean Delight - Edmonton

There are about 3-4 Jamaican places that are around the city. Safron's is one of the newer ones. It's in a tiny strip mall not far away from where I live. There have been several times that I've got into my car and driven there to order some take-away Jamaican beef patties. I've had terrible luck with this place! They are usually closed when I get there (at the oddest times of day, when just about every other restaurant/take-away in the city is open and doing good business). Are these closures because the staff is observing some Jamaican national holiday? I don't know how many times I have driven away from there, fuming!On the occasions when I've timed it when they're open, half the time they tell me they don't have any more patties left. The staff tells me that if I want to be sure to get patties, I should phone my order in ahead of time. I don't have the time (or the memory!) to do that. The whole purpose of a small, 5-6-seat take-out and eat-in place in a mall is that there should always be a constant turnover of their most popular food to satisfy customers who just want to stop by, often on impulse, for a snack or fuller meal. Is this place short-staffed? Can't someone be there for a longer time to prepare and cook these patties that people really crave?It's a small, clean interior. But I'm not too impressed with the attitude of the counter staff. It seems that they want to run things on their own terms and by their own rules---and to heck with the customers and their needs. I'm not sure how long this place will stay in business, with this approach,Although I've not eaten there, their menu features some Jamaican standards such as curried goat and jerk chicken. When their patties are actually available, they are quite tasty, though. Safron's needs to get its act together if it wants to compete with other Jamaican places in the city. I'm seriously debating whether to go there again.

Safron’s Caribbean Delight has wonderful food, best jerk chicken in the city. I love their beef patties as well. It's advisable to call and reserve a jerk chicken as they do run out near the end of the day. Five stars is this little restaurant

Con:I was not going to leave a review until I opened my coleslaw and seen it was only half full. I paid 14$ for regular jerk chicken and to add more chicken is another 7$ for an extra small chicken leg. If you are going to charge 22$ for a meal make sure the side which is some cheap coleslaw is full. I don't see this restaurant lasting in the future. Also I waited over 15mins with no one in the restaurant for them to put pre cooked food into a takeout container. Not everyone is set out to be entrepreneurs.Pros:The taste was not bad.

Loved the Jamaican patties. Both the beef and chicken are so good. Friendly and fast service was a bonus.

That's not the right picture for this place. Someobe please change it. Safron's is Jamaican not Indian!
