The Glass Monkey - Edmonton

We've dined here several times, and the restaurant consistently serves excellent food along with a fantastic selection of craft beer and wine on tap. The bistro-like atmosphere is inviting, and now that the pandemic is behind us (knock on wood), it's advisable to make reservations. Most dishes are prepared in a traditional style with a unique twist, using local ingredients wherever possible, while also incorporating exotic elements from international cuisines (how about some Argentine shrimp?). On this occasion, I had the pork and mushroom pappardelle, while my partner enjoyed the chicken alcona. Both meals were, as always, absolutely delicious. The restaurant also offers a daily special that includes a soup, appetizer, and entrée to consider. I highly recommend it!

We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrées, but the drinks arrived after the appetizers. When the appetizers were served, no one came to ask if we needed drink refills. Once we finished the appetizers, the plates were taken away without any inquiry about our drinks. When our main courses were delivered, they simply dropped the dishes on the table without inquiring about drinks. I was also missing utensils and waited about five minutes before someone, possibly the manager or owner, noticed my disappointed expression. They finally brought my drinks and utensils, but by that time, my fries were already cold. After our plates were cleared, no one checked on us for drinks or dessert, so we had to ask for the dessert menu ourselves. The bill was surprisingly high at $200, especially given the poor service. I was charged for two soft drinks, with no indication that refills would be extra. If you want to spend that kind of money for dinner in Edmonton, there are likely better options. After three strikes, this restaurant is no longer on our list of places to visit. Additionally, I reached out to them via email to address these issues, but they never bothered to respond.

The food and service were outstanding. The specialties were incredible, with many tempting options to choose from. The broth pudding was the best I've ever had!

It's been four or five years since I was eating in the glass monkey. I'm very glad I came back. the food (cover and lamb and many delicious vegetables) was excellent. we'll go back soon.
