Denny's - El Cajon

The burgers are absolutely delicious and the service is fantastic.

If I could give a negative star, I would. On December 10, 2022 at 6:00 pm, only three tables had customers, while the rest of the restaurant was empty. We simply wanted to be seated, but we waited and waited for a table. The hostess walked by several times, ignoring us completely. It seemed like she was just wandering around the restaurant without actually working. I even saw the cook eating food off plates on the shelves. The waiter also ignored us. Finally, the hostess stopped when a lady came to pay her bill. My family and I ended up leaving and eating at the Village Inn across the street. It appears that at this Denny's, the employees prefer to ignore customers until they leave on their own. This Denny's needs a complete overhaul and the lazy workers should find jobs where they actually put in a decent day's work. They seem too comfortable in their roles and no one seems to be monitoring their performance. Those who have given negative reviews of this place were right. Avoid eating here at all costs!

People very rude cannot even recognize when you asked if I need it to write my own name down. At first she said yes and when I was there, she got angry and took the pen away. Of course, she made me angry that I heard her how she did it before other people. I tried to find the manager, but I wasn't there. It is sad that the people you have at the door give the other employees a bad name, one except the same service at the table. Good thing there are people who go to serve you and forget the ones you welcome, at least until you have to pay them again. Child-friendly: Our waiter was very friendly.

Ordered a moz burger spec. It was NOT American cheese as menu stated, it was swiss! The dipping sauce was in the burger and not on the side as menu stated. It was a regular bun and not brioche as menu stated. Fries were undercooked and tasted horrible. Pancakes were undercooked and didn't have butter. The food gets a -1. Cleanliness gets a ZERO. There was food all over the floor and looked dirty. I wish I could rate our waiter Adrian, who was a perfect 10! Excellent CS by him throughout the whole visit. Highly doubt I'll be back after spending $30 plus a very generous tip for 2 meals that was NOT good.

Walked in to place a take out order. I was told it would take 30 minutes to get it ready. I left and came back an hour later. Still wasn’t ready. Then I waited another 15 minutes before someone telling everyone they were closing because the kitchen crew couldn’t get their act together. I wish they had explained their problem before I waited almost an hour and a half. I won’t be going back.
