We were in Ensenada to look at some property and wanted to eat before checking in at the house we rented. Stopped at Applebee 's as we were familiar with the chain from the US. Jose our waiter was great, spoke some English and made us...feel very comfortable. We was teaching our 6 year old grandson that was traveling with us a couple quick Spanish words. It was a lot of fun. When my husband ordered tonic water and they were out Jose ran across the parking lot to Wal-Mart and bought some. That you would NEVER have happen in the US. Food was good and Jose Pepe was wonderful and has our greatest of thanks.
Yes, I know it's an old cliche to get food poisoning in Mexico. But I enjoy my trips to Mexico and have eaten in all kinds of restaurants without any issues. In other words, I don't have a sensitive stomach and this wasn't my first...time eating out in Mexico. This is the first time I've ever had food poisoning in Mexico and it was terrible! I think it was the sauce in one of the sandwiches and it had me sick for the next 2 days. I will never eat here again.
This Applebees is really the same as you get north of the border, but expensive when compared with a lot of other GREAT spots to eat in Ensenada.
Don't bother expensive for Mexico but not even as good as Applebee's US. Absolutely no vegetarian options, not even a meat free salad.
