The pub is a Mcmullens original with AK its greatest treasure, nectar of the gods, but to some the 'marmite ' of the beer world. Sallie and staff make you feel very welcome and the tapas/snacks are well worth trying as they are varied and very tasty. Bus stops and a train station are nearby so leave the car at home and enjoy the many charms of the Crown.
I have not eaten here but have have attended quiz night which is good fun! Especially if you have a like minded bunch of friends ! Our group won of course and the prize is a bucket of beer! We shall be victorious again.
Four of us tried this pub for lunch and to be honest I really did not know what to expect. We walked in to a lovely cosy atmosphere and was greeted warmly by the landlady. This is a pub from the past where you went with friends for a drink and a chat and maybe a bite , its not trendy or has sales staff trying to push you to order food and drink then want to give you the bill, Its relaxing, its very clean, you could say old fashioned in a nice way ok the menu sticks to what it is ,pub classics eg: Scampi and chips in a basket great. The next visit we make to the Abbey we will drop in again to this cosy little pub. Thank you girls we loved it
I love this pub and although I don't live near enough for it to be my local, I make an effort to visit from time to time. It's old and cosy. The landlady goes out of her way to make strangers welcome. Locals are always friendly. Toilets are spotless. It's one of the few places you can go to, have a nice drink, a good chat and truly relax. It's a proper pub.
