Nestled next to Autzen Stadium right on the waterfront, this place is an icon of the city of Eugene. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in this town who isn't familiar with the name Kowloons whether it be frequenting the restaurant, ordering take out, or hanging out at The City which was it's night club.. Until about 6 years ago, when the business was sold to new owner, this was most likely the best chinese food anywhere around. Food was excellent, portions were large, everything was made fresh in house. Since then however, it has gone steadily downhill. Food was mediocre at best, all the sauces and hot mustard came in packets, portions were small until finally (unfortunately) the new owner ran the business into the ground and Kowloons is now, sadly, closed for good. It will be greatly missed.
I don’t understand why this restaurant has a 2.9 rating. It has a cozy atmosphere and an extremely friendly waitstaff. The seating is spacious and offers a level of privacy. Plus, there's a lovely view of the river to enjoy while dining. I ordered the Mandarin Beef with steamed rice and Crab Puffs, and the portion sizes were generous enough to feed two people. My food was served in less than 10 minutes after I ordered. I ended up staying in the restaurant for about two hours to do some homework, and the gentleman who served me was very polite without hovering over me every few minutes. The dessert menu is fantastic! They offer treats from Sweet Life, and I tried the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake – it was delicious! I will definitely be returning to this restaurant more often to explore more of their menu. Don't let the low ratings fool you; this place serves mouthwatering food, generous portions that are worth every penny, and has a friendly waitstaff. I’m giving it a full 5 stars. Thank you for a wonderful experience, and I hope more people will start to recognize the value this place offers!
At Kowloon, you can enjoy Mar Far Chicken in a variety of flavors, including Garlic, Lemon, and Orange, among others, and you can customize the spiciness to your preferred level of heat. Now at 59 years old, I hope Kowloon remains my go-to for Chinese food well into my 100s! I also recommend their vegetable fried rice; I usually request onions and cabbage but ask them to leave out the bok choy. They always gladly accommodate my requests with a smile. I truly appreciate when my taste buds and dining experience are both thoroughly satisfied!
I've never encountered any issues here! The food is quite good, and there are plenty of portion sizes available depending on how many people you're serving. They offer takeout and delivery as well. Overall, it's a reliable choice.
