We have always had a good dining experience there, with excellent food, generous portions, and fresh flavors (except for the kids' pizza). Last night, we decided to go on a whim and were surprised to find that the pub was not as busy as it used to be on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately, we were left a bit disappointed with the food this time. I ordered the small fish and chips, which was indeed small for the price. My daughter had the burger, which was good, but both of our plates had a shortage of chips that seemed a bit old. When they brought the garlic bread side, I was shocked by the price of £3.95 for just 4 small slices, which is like £1 per slice! Additionally, the garlic bread seemed reheated and not fresh. As a local, I have had many enjoyable meals at the Twisted Oak, but people will ultimately go elsewhere if they feel like they are being taken advantage of. We understand the challenges of running a business, but no one likes to feel cheated.
We decided to grab a bite to eat before heading to the orange elephant. We had a wonderful meal, both for us and for the kids. There were plenty of options for the little ones. I ordered the cheeseburger, which was served with chunky chips and coleslaw. Despite the restaurant being busy, our food arrived quickly after ordering. The kids had a great time playing on the outdoor climbing frame - a fantastic addition that kept them entertained. Overall, a great dining experience with good food and a welcoming atmosphere for families.
The food and service at this restaurant were incredible. The location was lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed the carvery. Our lunch was delightful, and we ended our visit with a drink in the garden. We will definitely be returning.
We visited this pub whilst on holiday from Wales. We chose it purely down to the large park area for the children but from start to finish we were given 5* service by the manager Maz (I think that’s her name) she was so accommodating to our needs and made a simple birthday meal so special. Going for meals can be particularly stressful with 3 busy children but this was not the case thanks to this lovely lady. The rest of the staff were also wonderful, we visit the area every year and will be returning.
An impromptu family lunch for 22 was an impossible task on a Sunday but not for the twisted oak who accommodated us all with warmth and great service. Delicious carvery which ran like clockwork. Hats off to this team who seriously pulled it out the bag for us. Thank you team
